We’re hiring a Purchasing Manager for an established manufacturing organization in Halton Region. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced manufacturing procurement professional who can lead purchasing activities, strengthen supplier performance, support production requirements and guide a junior team member. Location: Halton Region, Ontario – Fully on-site
Pay: $80,000– $90,000 per year, based on experience + benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What You’ll Do
- Lead day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities within a manufacturing environment
- Provide guidance and support to a junior purchasing team member
- Review material requirements and ensure components and supplies are available to support production
- Work with bills of materials, MRP, inventory levels and production schedules
- Create and manage purchase orders while monitoring supplier delivery performance
- Develop productive relationships with existing and prospective suppliers
- Identify, evaluate and qualify alternate sources of supply
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, lead times and service expectations
- Identify cost-reduction, inventory-optimization and process-improvement opportunities
- Resolve material shortages, delivery delays, discrepancies and supplier-performance issues
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Receiving, Sales, Marketing and Accounting
- Support the procurement of specialized and made-to-order components
- Maintain complete and accurate purchasing records and ERP data
- Participate in occasional supplier visits within the GTA
- Contribute to broader purchasing initiatives as the organization continues to grow
- At least five years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing procurement, supply planning and inventory management
- Experience working with bills of materials, MRP requirements and production schedules
- Demonstrated supplier-management, negotiation and shortage-resolution experience
- Experience identifying and developing alternate suppliers
- Strong working knowledge of a comprehensive ERP or MRP system
- Experience with Infor CloudSuite Industrial, CSI or SyteLine is an asset
- Experience supervising, training or providing day-to-day guidance to a purchasing employee is preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- SCMP designation or related supply-chain education is an asset
- Ability to work fully on-site in Halton Region, Monday through Friday
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full-time hours as required by this position

- College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations or a related field (preferred)
- SCMP designation or related supply-chain certification is an asset
Experience:
- Manufacturing purchasing or procurement: 5 years (required)
- ERP/MRP systems: 3 years (preferred)
- Supplier management and negotiation: 5 years (preferred)
- Purchasing leadership or team guidance: 1 year (preferred)
