Design Innovative Technical Solutions for Manufacturing Excellence

Are you a mechanical design enthusiast skilled in 3D CAD modeling, tooling development, and process optimization? We are looking for a hands-on Design Technician to join our growing engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will help design, model, and deploy custom equipment, fixtures, and plant layout improvements. As a Design Technician, your technical expertise will bridge the gap between ideation and physical implementation to optimize production floor efficiency.

YOUR ROLE AS A DESIGN TECHNICIAN:
Reporting to the Director, Engineering and Technical Services, the Design Technician is an integral member of the engineering team and contributes to the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions aimed at improving manufacturing equipment, processes, and facilities. They actively participate in concept development, design reviews, and project deployment, from ideation through implementation. Working closely with engineers and other departments, they serve as a technical resource for design, drafting, 3D modeling, tooling development, and the optimization of manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities
A Day in the Life as a Design Technician:
Your core responsibilities will include:
•Designing, modeling, and drafting mechanical components, custom tooling, machinery, and plant layouts using CAD software.
•Conducting hands-on field surveys to evaluate operational requirements and validate existing conditions.
•Developing and optimizing tooling and fixtures while incorporating manufacturability, safety, and maintenance principles.
•Maintaining up-to-date technical documentation, 3D models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
•Supporting equipment fabrication, installation, startup, and validation activities on the shop floor.


Qualifications

•Education: College diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical or manufacturing design.
•CAD Proficiency: Proven skills with Computer-Aided Design software (SolidWorks, OnShape, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
•Language Skills: Functional English proficiency to review technical documentation, use specialized software, and communicate with vendors.
•Key Skills: Technical rigor, a practical hands-on mindset, business acumen, and strong collaborative skills.
