About the role

Join the External Affairs Team, in the Bilingual Senior Officer, Communications (Quebec and Atlantic) position. In this role, you will be part of the team delivering federal government visibility events as part of the Government of Canada’s communications objective of demonstrating how the National Housing Strategy is best supporting the housing affordability needs of people living in Canada.

This is a temporary position with a duration of 24 months.

What you’ll do:

• Support a Communications Specialist in strategizing, planning, preparing, and executing visibility opportunities via various media events and announcements in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.
• Lead the development and implementation of communications products and logistics for on-site media events.
• Ensure quality control of all communications products related to ministerial events, announcements, and visibility opportunities.
• Ensure accurate reporting and data entry management.
• Manage relationships with vendors delivering services in support of announcements.
• Manage time efficiently and effectively to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced ever-changing environment with tight deadlines.
• Participate in regular check-ins with CMHC project teams to review upcoming housing visibility opportunities.

What you should have:

• An undergraduate degree in a field such as communications, public relations, marketing, political science, public affairs, public administration, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years' experience in communications and/or public affairs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages (English and French), with the ability to present information to a variety of audiences and influence outcomes.
• An exceptional attention to detail and organization skills.
• The availability and flexibility to travel across the country on a frequent basis, specifically within the region of Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the housing sector and an understanding of the Canadian political system.

It would be great if you also had:

• Prior experience in event coordination and management within a communications-focused organization.
