We are looking for a full-time 12month contract Warehouse Order Picker Lead in Brantford, ON. As the Warehouse Order Picker Lead, you will lead the daily operations of the assigned picking team to ensure all customer orders are picked accurately, safely, and on time. Provide coaching and training support to team members, monitor productivity and performance, and serve as a key communication link between the picking team, Shipping Supervisors, Traffic Managers, and other warehouse teams.
Primary Responsibilities
Picking & Team Leadership
- Coordinate with other Area Picking Teams, Team Leads, and Shipping Supervisors to ensure all picking deadlines are met.
- Pull and pick customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Review picking errors with team members and take appropriate corrective action.
- Identify and communicate special instructions on pick tickets to ensure customer requirements are followed.
- Identify product shortages promptly and communicate them to Shipping Supervisors to minimize backorders.
- Request reprints for orders with missing or incorrect item labels.
- Monitor team performance and productivity in partnership with Shipping Supervisors.
- Ensure all team members remain productive and assigned resources are utilized effectively.
- Prioritize daily tasks, orders, and available resources based on operational requirements.
- Identify problems or workflow issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Organize paperwork and follow all Shipping and Traffic department workflow processes.
- Provide coaching, training, and hands-on assistance to picking team members as needed.
- Lead by example by demonstrating a strong work ethic, professionalism, safety awareness, and adherence to company policies.
Warehouse Operations
- Load outgoing shipments accurately and safely.
- Build T&K items as required.
- Unload inbound freight as necessary.
- Meet established productivity and efficiency requirements while performing assigned duties.
- Follow and help enforce all required safety rules, procedures, and warehouse standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent attendance and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication throughout the warehouse.
- Assist supervisors and management with operational needs as required.
Physical Demands
The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, and perform repetitive manual tasks. Manual dexterity is required to operate warehouse equipment and related machinery.
Working Conditions
Working conditions are typical of a warehouse/manufacturing environment and may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, wet conditions, and outdoor conditions.
Forklift operation and other warehouse duties require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include, but is not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, and hardhats. Jewelry is prohibited while working in designated warehouse and production areas.
