Northern Lakes College has the following Permanent Full-Time Position available:
Salary: $52,428 to $63,972 per year
Location: Fairview or Slave Lake

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary certificate in Accounting or Business Administration
- One to Three years of progressive experience in a position with related competencies
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
- A clean vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to commencement
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
- A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
Nature and Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Accounting Assistant will provide assistance to Finance Services and its clients. Responsibilities are diverse and include all accounts receivable/payable functions. The Accounting Assistant is part of a diverse team and should work effectively as part of this team, as well as work well independently. The Accounting Assistant must have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel plus have a familiarity with financial transactions and databases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issue receipts and prepare bank deposits for funds received and posting payments to the U4 Financial system
- Verify and record deposits from outlying campuses and online remittances
- Assist in the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
- Filing of revenue documentation and other duties as assigned
- Invoice generation and mailing of outstanding invoices as required
- Continuous updating of cash remittance sheet
- Ensuring posting accuracy of student payments
- Reconciliation of accounts (NR control account with sub-ledger accounts)
- Printing and mailing of statements and following up with delinquent accounts
- Provide assistance to students, sponsors, and staff as required
- Enter invoices and expense claims for payment
- Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor
Skills/Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as computerized accounting software
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Good time management and multi tasking skills
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to details
