Our client, a well-established food distribution company, is hiring a Warehouse & Facility Operations Lead to join their team in Richmond Hill. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day execution of warehouse operations, ensuring the facility remains safe, organized, compliant, and running efficiently.
About the Role
The Warehouse & Facility Operations Lead supports all aspects of receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, and sales sample coordination while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and operational excellence. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting customer service levels, coordinating warehouse and facility maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day guidance and support to warehouse personnel, leading by example through active participation in warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee daily receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shipping activities.
- Ensure inbound and outbound orders are processed accurately and on time.
- Monitor workflow and prioritize tasks to meet operational requirements.
- Support the preparation, organization, and shipment of product samples for the sales team.
- Maintain warehouse organization and product accessibility.
- Actively participate in warehouse duties as required.
Inventory Management & Accuracy
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking and inventory integrity.
- Support cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, and discrepancy investigations.
- Monitor product rotation and inventory control practices.
- Minimize inventory loss through proper handling and documentation procedures.
- Maintain accurate warehouse records and supporting documentation.
Team Leadership & Support
- Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and support to warehouse personnel.
- Assign tasks and monitor productivity to ensure operational goals are achieved.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment.
- Train team members on warehouse processes, safety procedures, and best practices.
- Lead by example through a hands-on leadership approach.
Food Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety programs, sanitation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Ensure traceability, product handling, and documentation requirements are consistently followed.
- Promote a culture of food safety, quality, and operational discipline.
Facility & Equipment Management
- Coordinate and monitor the maintenance of warehouse equipment, material handling equipment, and facility infrastructure.
- Conduct regular inspections of warehouse equipment and facility conditions.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repair activities with vendors and service providers.
- Support facility improvements and organization initiatives.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the warehouse and property.
Logistics & Deliveries
- Coordinate inbound and outbound scheduling activities with transportation providers and suppliers.
- Assist in resolving shipment, receiving, and delivery issues.
- Complete occasional local deliveries and product transfers when required.
- Ensure all shipping and transportation documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain compliance with all company vehicle and transportation requirements.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Support workplace health and safety initiatives and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, productivity, and accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout warehouse operations.

Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of warehouse experience, preferably within food distribution, food manufacturing, or another regulated environment.
- Previous experience in a Team Lead, Lead Hand, Senior Warehouse Associate, or similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of receiving, inventory control, warehousing, order fulfillment, and shipping processes.
- Experience working with food safety, sanitation, traceability, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience coordinating warehouse, building, and equipment maintenance activities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to coach, support, and motivate team members.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain and maintain certification.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles and perform occasional local deliveries.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle products and materials as required.
