At UBC, we believe that attracting and sustaining a diverse workforce is key to the successful pursuit of excellence in research, innovation, and learning for all faculty, staff and students. Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.

JOB SUMMARY

The Research Assistant will provide support to the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigators by coordinating materials development; recruiting participants, collecting, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data; and drafting manuscripts.

The research aims to better understand the lived experience of loneliness of isolation of students in medicine, nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy health professions educational programs.

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS

The Research Assistant will report to the Principal Investigator and other Co-Investigators, and may receive administrative support from the CHES Administrative Manager and other administrative personnel.

The Centre for Health Education Scholarship (CHES) was formed in April 2008 to enhance health education scholarship across the Faculty of Medicine through collaboration, team-building, mentorship of new faculty, successful funding applications, and other activities. CHES serves as a resource to help support best practices related to the delivery and assessment of the Faculty's educational programs. Its researchers include faculty, post-graduate fellows, and clinical education fellows engaged in various research projects.

- Foster cooperative relationships with the research team and other stakeholders to facilitate the flow of information and ideas, and ensure timely completion of the project.

Poor decisions could delay timely completion of projects, cause financial loss and be damaging to the reputation of the PI, the Director, the Centre, the Faculty of Medicine and the University of British Columbia. In addition, errors could cause misinterpretation of results in information disseminated to decision-makers, the public and academic audiences. The consequences could lead to inappropriate policy and decision-making related to health professions education.

- The Research Assistant will receive direction from Principal Investigator.
- Co-Investigators or the CHES Administrative Manager may provide supervision under request of the PI.
