Assistant Controller – Future Leadership Opportunity

Salary: $80,000–$90,000

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an Assistant Controller for an established, privately owned Vancouver organization with complex, multi-entity operations.

The company is not looking for someone to arrive with a 100-day transformation plan. It wants an intelligent, ambitious and grounded accounting professional who will take the time to understand the business, earn the team’s trust and then help lead it forward.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support accounting and financial reporting across multiple operating entities

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

• Prepare reconciliations, internal reports and supporting financial analysis

• Manage intercompany transactions, cash activity and account balances

• Support accounting for both active projects and ongoing operating assets

• Work closely with different departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting

• Provide guidance and support to other members of the accounting team

• Gradually take ownership of more complex accounting and leadership responsibilities

• Learn directly from the senior accounting leader as part of a long-term succession plan

What We’re Looking For

• Progressive accounting experience within complex, project-based or asset-focused businesses

• Experience supporting both project accounting and ongoing operational accounting

• Strong experience using an established accounting or enterprise resource planning system

• Comfort working across numerous companies, accounts or legal entities

• A solid understanding of intercompany transactions and cash movements

• Previous experience mentoring, supervising or informally leading others

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across a team

• A patient, curious and collaborative approach

• The ambition and leadership potential to eventually oversee an accounting function

• CPA designation or progress toward one is an asset, but strong relevant experience will be equally valued
