Do you want to take on a role where accounting, financial analysis, and operations truly intersect? A large Quebec transportation company is looking for a financial controller to support its business decisions, oversee its accounting team, and evolve its financial practices. Based in Quebec City, this position will allow you to act as a partner to management and managers from various disciplines.
Your Role
You will be responsible for the quality of financial information and the accounting management of complex operational activities. You will need to make the numbers speak, explain variances, and assist managers in controlling their costs. You will supervise an accounting team of four people and work in collaboration with corporate financial management.
Your Main Responsibilities
• Supervise the accounting cycle and the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Prepare operating and capital budgets
• Ensure follow-up of results by department and cost center
• Analyze budget variances, costs, and financial performance
• Present your analyses and recommendations to senior management
• Advise operational managers and simplify financial information
• Participate in financial planning, cash management, and investment analysis
• Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting and administrative processes
• Develop performance indicators and management reports
• Participate in the evolution of financial systems and technology implementation projects
• Coordinate annual audit files and ensure compliance with accounting standards
• Mentor, support, and empower members of the accounting team
The Desired Profile
• University degree and recognized CPA designation, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of seven years of accounting experience in a medium or large company
• At least four years of experience in comparable responsibilities
• Concrete experience in managing the accounting cycle, budgets, management accounting, cost management, and process improvement
• Advanced mastery of Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and file automation
• Proficiency in French and advanced English, both spoken and written
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent requests
• Collaborative leadership, rigor, judgment, and excellent communication skills
Assets
• Experience in a multi-site environment, transportation, or heavy industry
• Experience in implementing or optimizing an integrated management system
• Knowledge of Power BI or a comparable tool
