About the OpportunityThe New Brunswick Department of Health is seeking an experienced
Clinical Business Analyst / Clinical Informatics Analyst to support the
Provincial Clinical Information Solution (CIS) – Symbio Program.
New Brunswick is undertaking a major province-wide digital health transformation to transition from multiple standalone hospital information systems to a
unified, standardized, integrated Clinical Information System (CIS/EHR).
The successful candidate will focus on
Clinical Documentation and Therapeutics, helping standardize clinical practices, documentation, workflows, order sets, and related clinical content used by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other regulated healthcare professionals in acute care environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior clinical analyst with hands-on experience in
acute care, EHR/CIS implementation, clinical documentation, therapeutics, requirements analysis, workflow design, clinical content development, and healthcare stakeholder engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Clinical Business Analyst will:
- Act as a Clinical Documentation / Clinical Informatics subject matter expert supporting the design and implementation of clinical standards within a provincial CIS.
- Support the standardization, build, validation, testing, and implementation of clinical documentation practices and related workflows.
- Analyze how CIS implementation and clinical digitization affect clinical documentation processes, workflows, procedures, and patient care.
- Gather, analyze, validate, document, and prioritize business and system requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, engagement sessions, interviews, and working sessions with healthcare providers, clinical SMEs, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Document current-state and future-state workflows, business processes, use cases, user stories, functional requirements, and solution designs.
- Conduct gap analysis between current clinical practices and future-state CIS capabilities.
- Develop detailed business analysis and clinical documentation deliverables supporting therapeutic services and acute care workflows.
- Support the development and standardization of documentation templates, clinical content, order sets, and related workflows.
- Build, validate, test, and refine clinical content within the CIS/EHR.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, allied health professionals, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, medical imaging stakeholders, and other healthcare SMEs.
- Support CPOE, order sets, clinical documentation, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Laboratory, and other ancillary-service workflows, where applicable.
- Develop process documentation, solution documentation, user guides, training materials, and other implementation deliverables.
- Support stakeholder adoption of new clinical documentation standards and workflows.
- Collaborate with project teams on implementation activities, communications, change impacts, and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage multiple project streams, priorities, stakeholder groups, and deliverables simultaneously.
- Work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with project managers, clinical leads, SMEs, technical teams, and senior stakeholders.
- Participate in project activities required to support successful province-wide clinical standardization and CIS implementation.
Requirements
Mandatory QualificationsCandidates
must clearly demonstrate all of the following requirements:
M1 – Education- University degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of applicable education and professional experience.
M2 – Clinical Analysis & Documentation Experience- 5+ years of experience working as a Clinical Analyst, Clinical Informatics Analyst, Clinical Business Analyst, or equivalent.
- Experience must include clinical documentation-related requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design activities, and development of business analysis documentation.
- Experience must have been obtained within the last 10 years.
M3 – Large-Scale Acute Care Digital Health / CIS Implementation- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Clinical Business Analyst, or Clinical Informatics Analyst supporting a large-scale acute care digital health transformation, EHR, or Clinical Information System (CIS) implementation.
- Direct experience building, configuring, implementing, or supporting a Clinical Information System/EHR of comparable scale is required.
M4 – Therapeutics Clinical Deliverables- Demonstrated experience developing clinical deliverables supporting therapeutics, including clinical workflows, documentation, requirements, templates, order sets, clinical content, or related therapeutic services.
M5 – Availability- Must be available to commence the assignment on or about August 24, 2026, or earlier if possible.
M6 – Submission Requirement- Vendor submissions are limited to two candidates for this requirement.

Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is a
Senior Clinical Business Analyst / Clinical Informatics Analyst who has worked directly with healthcare providers in an
acute care environment and has significant experience supporting
large-scale EHR/CIS implementations.
The strongest candidates will have a proven track record in
clinical documentation and therapeutics, combined with requirements analysis, clinical workflow design, workshop facilitation, clinical content development, CPOE/order sets, and implementation experience.
Candidates with
New Brunswick public healthcare experience and/or bilingual
French-English communication skills will be particularly competitive.
Work Location & Travel- Work is primarily remote within Canada.
- Candidate must be able to travel to New Brunswick at least once per month throughout the engagement.
- Travel time and costs from the candidate's remote location to New Brunswick are the responsibility of the vendor, subject to the applicable contractual arrangements.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required and will be subject to prior approval.
