Job descriptionAcero Engineering Inc. ("Acero"), a dynamic company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise to the Oil and Gas industry is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill a role as Senior Stress Engineer (7-month contract role). Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management. Responsibilities: * Perform detailed piping stress and flexibility analysis for Froth Treatment, Extraction, Utilities, and Oil Sands processing facilities. * Develop and analyze piping models using CAESAR II or equivalent software for thermal, sustained, occasional, wind, seismic, settlement, and dynamic load cases. * Assess piping connected to rotating and static equipment, including pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, separators, and compressors. * Evaluate nozzle loads and ensure compliance with vendor allowable loads. * Design and review pipe support systems, including guides, anchors, spring supports, and vibration mitigation measures. * Prepare stress calculations, engineering reports, support sketches, and technical recommendations. * Collaborate closely with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Structural, and Project Engineering teams. * Other tasks/responsibilities, as required. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: * Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university. * Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA. * *10-14 years of piping stress engineering experience. * Significant experience supporting Oil Sands, Froth Treatment, Extraction, Upgrading, or Heavy Oil processing facilities. * Extensive knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.4 codes * Advanced proficiency in: * CAESAR II * Smart Plant Review (asset) * Pipe support and flexibility analysis methodologies * Experience evaluating thermal expansion, displacement stresses, equipment nozzle loads, and support design. * Victaulic coupling modelling and flexibility assessments * CCO (Chrome Carbide Overlay) spool modelling and stress evaluation * Wear-resistant piping systems * Dynamic analysis and vibration assessment * High-temperature hydrocarbon service * Strong knowledge of Canadian engineering standards and industry practices. * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Ability to independently work on piping stress activities on medium to large projects. * Commitment to engineering quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
