Qualifications and Experience

:Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC EducatorsMinimum of three years of successful teaching experienceExperience and/or training in working with students in alternate education, behaviour support, or inclusive education.Provide instruction across core subjects (Literacy, Numeracy, Social Studies, Science) adapted for small group and individualized learning. Experience in embedding social emotional learning, and well-being into class planning. Experience with planful transitions between schools or back into school.Foster a supportive environment that emphasizes respect, belonging, and positive behaviour.Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment and collaborate with support staff, counsellors, Indigenous Education, Learning Services, and community partners to meet diverse student needs.Implement trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and restorative practices.Support the development of student social-emotional skills, self-regulation strategies, and goal setting.Maintain clear communication with families, colleagues, and administrators.Strong classroom management skills that emphasize positive, proactive, and restorative approaches.Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and use UDL as an approach to planning for diverse learning needs.Knowledge of adolescent development, mental health considerations, and trauma-informed practice.Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.Experience integrating Indigenous perspectives and knowledge in curriculum and practice.Familiarity with Competency Based Individual Education Plans (CBIEPs), Behaviour Support Plans, and EIRP/ISWI Plans (Safety Plans).Experience in project-based learning, outdoor education, or community-connected learning.Must have a valid drivers license.For Further Information Contact: Salvina Sharp, District Principal of Safe and Caring Schools or Jessica Adams-Loupret, District Principal of Inclusive Education– Student Services (604) 794-5553
