Our work spans renewable energy generation, industrial facilities, and resource transformation. Regardless of the project delivery model, we bring the skills and experience required to develop innovative solutions adapted to our clients’ needs.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Mechanical EIT to join our Mechanical Resources team in Vancouver or Calgary. Working as part of our broader Energy & Resources team, you will contribute to multidisciplinary industrial projects with a particular focus on piping engineering and pipe stress analysis.

The successful candidate will support pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II and work closely with piping design, structural, mechanical equipment, and other engineering disciplines. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to build strong technical expertise in piping systems while gaining exposure to a variety of industrial projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Develop and review piping stress models for thermal, sustained, occasional, seismic, and other applicable loading conditions.
  • Assist in evaluating piping systems for compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
  • Review piping layouts, P&IDs, isometrics, equipment drawings, and vendor documentation as inputs to stress analysis.
  • Evaluate equipment nozzle loads and coordinate findings with mechanical equipment and piping teams.
  • Assist with pipe support selection and design, including spring supports and other specialty supports where required.
  • Prepare stress isometrics, calculations, technical documentation, and pipe stress reports.
  • Coordinate with piping, structural, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design issues identified through stress analysis.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and project coordination meetings.
  • Support brownfield, sustaining capital, and other industrial projects.
  • Participate in site visits and field surveys as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates when required.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with CIMA+ quality, health and safety, and project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 1–3 years of relevant experience in piping engineering, piping design, or pipe stress analysis. Candidates with less experience and strong pipe stress fundamentals will also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of CAESAR II for static pipe stress analysis.
  • Familiarity with applicable piping codes such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, and/or B31.9.
  • Understanding of piping layouts, isometrics, P&IDs, and general piping design principles.
  • Ability to interpret equipment vendor drawings and datasheets, including equipment nozzle allowable loads.
  • Basic understanding of thermal, sustained, occasional, and seismic load case development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word for engineering calculations, reporting, and documentation.
  • Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the applicable provincial engineering regulator.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence.
