Job description
TEMPORARY 1.0 FTE DISTRICT COUNSELLOR REQUIRED BASED IN GOLD RIVER, BC Effective September 1, 2026 to October 13, 2026 or the return of the incumbent __________________________________________________________________________Teaching assignment may include, but may not be limited to:Elementary and Secondary School CounsellingThe successful candidate will:have an exemplary work ethic, effective communication skills and a proven ability to work as an effective team member to ensure success in this setting;be a committed to being an advocate for students;possess outstanding skills in building student rapport;have a strong knowledge and understanding of the Graduation Program requirements;strong skills as a problem solver;strong skills in conflict resolution;establish open and effective dialogue with community agencies and resource people;knowledge, skills and experience in the use of student information systems (MyEdBC) deal meaningfully with differentiated student learning styles and behaviour issues and demonstrate an ability to address individual student needs;provide a hands-on, active classroom experience for student learning; possess an understanding of and an ability to assist in the development and implementation of IEP's and Behavioural Plans for students; be a willing and contributing member of the School Based Teamcommit to supporting the District's goal to improve student well-being and utilize strategies to support student well-being, positive social and emotional development, and positive behaviour;commit to the District's goals to improve the success of First Nations students;communicate with parents and guardians;be willing and flexible to teach other subjects be willing and able to travel throughout the District, when required;be physically capable to perform the duties of this position. Essential Qualifications:BC Certified and qualified with a Master's in Counselling;Valid Class 5 BC driver's license. Inquiries can be directed to the Superintendent at 250283-2241, ext 7
