Intermediate Infrastructure Construction Calculator for a full-time permanent opportunity in the Greater Toronto Area. This role is ideal for an experienced construction surveying professional with strong technical expertise in infrastructure calculations, survey data processing, quality control, and construction layout.
In this position, you will support complex construction and infrastructure projects by preparing accurate calculations, processing survey data, reviewing designs, calculating quantities and volumes, and preparing layout information for field crews. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, the Drafting Team Lead, field crews, and clients to help ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities- Perform construction surveying calculations for complex infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, heavy and light rail, and underground utilities.
- Calculate material quantities, structural geometry, earthwork, excavation, and grading volumes.
- Interpret construction surveying layout data, digital terrain models (DTMs), control networks, and other technical information.
- Review design drawings and models to identify layout discrepancies, volume inconsistencies, and missing information before construction begins.
- Prepare and format layout files, coordinate points, alignments, and other data required by field crews.
- Process raw survey data and prepare accurate as-built drawings documenting completed infrastructure.
- Perform field data processing, quality control, blunder detection, and data validation.
- Process and manage 3D scan and point cloud data for engineering and construction applications.
- Apply knowledge of local coordinate systems, network coordinate systems, and geodetic datums.
- Apply an understanding of related industries, including civil engineering, municipal infrastructure, vertical construction, and underground utilities.
- Support high-precision settlement monitoring, deformation monitoring, 3D structural monitoring, and vibration analysis projects.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, BricsCAD, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and MicroStation to support project requirements.
- Apply familiarity with Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) and Metrolinx drawing standards and specifications.
- Ensure work complies with applicable AOLS standards as well as established company policies, procedures, and technical standards.
- Identify situations requiring consultation with a Project Manager or Drafting Team Lead.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, field crews, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications- Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
- Relevant experience in construction surveying, infrastructure calculations, drafting, geomatics, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of complex infrastructure construction projects.
- Experience calculating material volumes and structural geometry for infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, rail, and underground utilities.
- Knowledge of construction surveying layout data, DTMs, control networks, earthwork calculations, excavation, and grading volumes.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, engineering designs, and technical models.
- Experience preparing construction layout files and processing field survey data.
- Strong knowledge of quality control, data validation, and blunder detection.
- Experience processing 3D scan and point cloud data is an asset.
- Knowledge of coordinate systems and geodetic datums.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, BricsCAD, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and/or MicroStation.
- Familiarity with MTO or Metrolinx drawing standards and specifications is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with clients, field crews, Project Managers, and technical teams.
