Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Drywall / Painter to complete drywall installation, repair, finishing, and painting on residential and commercial restoration projects. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently or as part of a team and will consistently deliver clean, high-quality workmanship while providing respectful service in occupied homes and businesses.

Responsibilities:

• Represent Downs Construction Ltd. professionally and maintain positive relationships with clients, coworkers, trades, and stakeholders.
• Review project scopes, identify materials, and communicate questions or changes to the Project Manager.
• Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall on walls and ceilings for repairs, renovations, and restoration projects.
• Complete drywall repairs and finishing, including taping, mudding, corner bead, sanding, skim coating, and texture matching.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, patching, filling, caulking, sanding, masking, and protecting adjacent finishes and contents.
• Apply primers, paints, stains, and coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to achieve durable, high-quality finishes.
• Complete interior and exterior painting of walls, ceilings, trim, doors, cabinets, and other surfaces as assigned.
• Follow health and safety requirements for hazardous materials, dust control, ladder use, respiratory protection, and PPE.
• Complete job documentation, photos, material records, and daily timecards accurately.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report damaged or unsafe equipment promptly.
• Keep job sites, company vehicles, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Work efficiently in a changing restoration environment and assist with related repairs within the employee's skills and training.

Compensation

Wage: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour (based on experience)

• Minimum three years of practical drywall finishing and painting experience preferred.
• Journeyperson Painter and Decorator certification (Red Seal) or recognized drywall finishing certification is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to install, repair, tape, mud, sand, and finish drywall to a paint-ready standard.
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint products, colour matching, application methods, and finishes.
• Ability to match common wall and ceiling textures and blend repairs into existing finishes.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate with project teams and trades.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, quality workmanship, and customer service.
• Strong practice of keeping the workspace clean and protected using poly and/or hoarding for dust control.
• Physical ability to lift materials, work from ladders, and stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Valid BC driver's licence and reliable transportation; criminal background check required.
• Insurance restoration, occupied residential, or commercial repair experience is an asset.
