Your new role

• Provides English to French written translation for customer and corporate materials for internal and external distribution (e.g. Annual report)
• Manages independently the end-to-end translation quality control process by ensuring that documentation produced for French speaking customers meet standards of high quality (e.g. French content mirrors English content), branding and timeliness
• Leads the production of French content in final output media (web pages, InDesign files, email/phone scripts, etc.), requiring strong technical skillset in addition to technical translation toolkit (InDesign, Sharepoint/HTML/CSS, LiveCycle)
• Develops and maintains the usage of accurate and up to date terminology based on Agricorp legal and business documents for inclusion in Agricorp’s glossary and style guide
• Tracks translation cycles and volumes relative to Agricorp business priorities to proactively forecast future translation requirements to balance internal stakeholder expectations/needs to ensure translation resources are optimally aligned with organizational needs
• Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with stakeholders from all levels across Agricorp and peers in the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA) Bureau of Translation to clarify and validate meaning ofplex sensitive information
• Resolves issues including day to day management of translation process (e.g. process/workflow issues within internal work teams, researching meaning and/or intent behind terms and phrases)
• Creates terminology equivalents consistent with industry usage; maintains resource/translation memory systems to provide stable documentation that evolves with Agricorp’s needs
• Draws on extensive past experience and professional expertise and critical thinking skills in order to resolve issues

What you'll need to succeed

• Undergraduate university degree in Translation from an accredited academic institution is required
• Minimum of seven years’ experience of increasing difficultly in a translation position
• Achieve a superior rating on the Language Proficiency Evaluation
• Experience in proof reading and a thorough knowledge of English and French grammar and punctuation is required
• Practical knowledge and experience withputer assisted translation memory technology
• Knowledge of agricultural and insurance terminology is an asset
• Membership in a recognized association (Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario) is an asset
