Description:

Course Description: This advanced graduate seminar explores specialized topics in architectural history and theory, with a focus on critical approaches to the history of the built environment. Through research, discussion, and written work, students will develop methods of analysis, argumentation, and writing for the study of architecture and its broader cultural and spatial contexts.

Salary: $9,997.47 (Sessional Lecturer I)

$10,699.21 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term)

$10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer II Long Term)

$10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer III)

$11,228.90 (Sessional Lecturer III Long Term)

(Salary inclusive of 4% or 6% vacation pay, where applicable)

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate should have a PhD in architectural history and theory from a major institution (preferably Canadian).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active curatorial experience and published scholarship in new research areas in architecture and its exhibition;
  • Innovative approaches to architectural curation, and research in the history of the built environment.
  • Ability to mentor graduate students and support the development of research, critical analysis, and good writing skills.
  • Willingness to engage interdisciplinary approaches to architectural history and research in built environments.

Duties: Prepare a new graduate seminar for January 2027; meet the class once per week for three hours, hold office hours, grade all submissions and provide feedback to students, and generally mentor students-in-training in topics in architecture. Candidate will be responsible for teaching a maximum of 16 students.
