Our facilities are fully accessible, accommodating the needs of all individuals.We are located in the City of Regina on Treaty 4 land, which is recognized as the traditional territory of the nêhiyawak/Cree,Nahkawē/Saulteaux, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.Position SummaryAs part of the Youth Program staff, the Youth Worker assists newcomer youth to become familiar with their community and establish supportive social networks. The aim of the program is to help newcomer youth become thriving members of their community.RequirementsPost-secondary education, preferably degree or diploma in the area of Social Sciences or Youth Development, Community Development, however previous work experience will be considered.2 to 3 Years of experience working with at-risk youthStrong commitment to providing quality services working in an intercultural environment.Event planning and organizing skills.Facilitation skills required: development and delivery of information, orientation and workshops.Ability to prioritize duties, ability to perform a variety of diverse task.Ability to document and compile reports in an accurate manner.Proficiency in both official languages is an asset.Fluency in languages other than English and French.Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet usageExtensive evening and weekend work required. Other RequirementsReliable vehicleClass 5 Novice 2 Saskatchewan Driver's licenseClean Drivers abstractChild Abuse RegistryFirst aid/CPRWork in personCompetenciesThe ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural and team environment.Work experience in a client-orientated position or related field targeting immigrant and refugee youth and familiesKnowledge of settlement-related issues facing immigrants and refugee youth, children and familiesBroad knowledge of local community resources that can assist newcomer youth, children and families with their settlement needsSolid paraprofessional counselling and group facilitation skills. Familiar with the casework process, including intake procedures, needs assessment, goal planning, referrals, case management, documentation and follow-ups.Understanding of Canada and Saskatchewan Privacy Policies and education systemStrong time-management and organizational skills are essentialGood verbal, written and presentation skills. Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuild a relationship with existing immigrant /refugee youth, families and their community.Provide workshops or work with other agencies to provide workshops on racism, bullying, conflict resolution, leadership, public speaking and others.Provide information and orientation to newcomer youth and their families.Creatively plan, organize and evaluate activities.Prepare and submit program reports i.e. monthly/annual, financial, bulk uploads, meeting minutes etc.Learn about RODS and other programs, services and resources for youth and families for referral.Provide referral to programs and services in the community.Work in collaboration with community organizations to provide programs and services for newcomer youth.Organizes and delivers Youth Summer and after school ProgramsOrganizes and deliver youth leadership and bridging programsPromotes and markets youth programming through community partners such as SWIS Workers (Settlement Workers in Schools), EAL teachers, and other community agencies working with youth and young adults. *Other duties as requiredSalary Level/ClassificationHours of work: This position works 16.75 hours per week the dates and hours are the following: Monday 12 PM to 4:00 PM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:45 PM to 7:00 PMThe annual salary for this position starts at $25.62per hour at Step one of the Case Worker RODS wage category.
