Our client, a prominent leader in the Canadian financial and insurance services industry, is seeking a skilled and proactive Project Manager / Scrum Master to drive key data governance and cross-functional business initiatives. Operating within a federated ecosystem, this role balances dynamic Agile facilitation with structured traditional project oversight.

In this position, you will act as a strategic catalyst—spending approximately 70% of your time guiding an 8-person multidisciplinary team as a Scrum Master, and 30% orchestrating broader organizational workflows. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining clear operational governance, synthesizing complex stakeholder insights, delivering executive briefings, and optimizing process efficiency through a pragmatic, "just enough" approach.

Responsibilities
Agile Facilitation & Team Leadership (70%):

Guide an 8-person deliverable team using Scrum, Kanban, or Scrumban frameworks to foster autonomy, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Partner with Product Owners to refine backlogs, align on business priorities, and facilitate core Agile ceremonies (sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews).

Shield the delivery team from external noise, proactively clear operational blockers, and implement action plans derived from risk assessments and retrospectives.

Project Governance & Management (30%):

Lead cross-sector, multi-stakeholder initiatives using best-practice project management methodologies and LEAN principles.

Oversee budget tracking, financial forecasting, capacity planning, and resource allocation across initiatives.

Design and facilitate steering committees to provide transparent updates on scope, milestones, financial health, and strategic risks.

Prepare high-level executive summaries and present progress reports to senior leadership.

Qualifications
Experience: 5 to 10 years of combined project management experience across Business and IT domains, with at least 3 years explicitly spent operating in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or Scrumban).

Agile Mastery: Deep hands-on experience applying Agile ceremonies, artifacts, and continuous improvement practices alongside traditional reporting methodologies.

Stakeholder & Governance Skills: Demonstrated experience managing cross-departmental projects, facilitating executive-level presentations, and leading steering committees.

Financial & Resource Acumen: Proven track record in budget administration, capacity management, and resource forecasting.

Methodology & Mindset: Strong understanding of LEAN concepts and recognized project management frameworks.

Language: Fluency in both French and English is required.

Our client operates in Canada. The company takes all reasonable steps to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires it when necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to perform these duties. Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (both spoken and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to interact with centralized internal departments (e.g., Operations / HR / Finance / Legal / Contracts / Sales) that support the organization in Canada and that do not speak French.
