Excavator Operator - Up to $32/HR

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Licensed Excavator Operator to join our operations team. The successful candidate will operate hydraulic excavators to sort, load, move, and process waste, recyclable materials, and construction debris in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate hydraulic excavators of various sizes.
  • Load transfer trailers, roll-off bins, and dump trucks.
  • Perform excavation, demolition, grading, sorting, and material handling.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and safety checklists.
  • Perform routine maintenance including greasing, cleaning, and fluid checks.
  • Identify and report equipment issues or deficiencies.
  • Follow site plans, work orders, and supervisor instructions.
  • Complete equipment logs and required operational reports.
Qualifications
  • Valid Excavator Operator License or recognized Heavy Equipment Operator certification.
  • 2–3 years of excavator operating experience.
  • Experience in waste management, construction, demolition, recycling, or excavation preferred.
  • Experience operating different sizes of hydraulic excavators.
  • Strong understanding of safe heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to read site plans, work orders, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
  • Waste transfer station or recycling facility experience.
  • Loader, skid steer, or other heavy equipment experience.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence; DZ is an asset.
  • Working at Heights, WHMIS, or First Aid certification.
Physical & Working Conditions
  • Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working around dust, noise, mud, and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required.
  • PPE required at all times.
Schedule
  • Sunday to Friday
  • 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM start
  • Shift ends approximately 8:00 AM
  • Full-time hours with overtime opportunities
