Senior Software Developer - Medical Devices

Salary: $85,915 - 178,757 per year

Requirements:

• We require strong full-stack software development skills, including cloud-based infrastructure and the practical use of AI-assisted coding tools.
• We need proficiency in Python and C++ for medical imaging and AI development, with experience in TensorFlow/Keras/PyTorch, OpenCV, OpenCL, CUDA/GPU acceleration, and C#/.NET.
• We value experience integrating APIs with imaging devices and platforms, deploying AI/ML models, and working with medical imaging standards such as DICOM.
• We look for a solid software engineering foundation, including architecture and object-oriented programming, API/SDK integration, software testing, verification and validation, and modern tools such as Git, CI/CD, and Docker.
• We require experience with medical imaging and image processing.
• We need experience building web applications and APIs, as well as native or cross-platform mobile applications.
• We value familiarity with DevOps practices, including Git and GitHub Actions, containerization, and cloud environments such as AWS EC2, RDS, and VPC configuration.
• We expect experience with secure software development and cybersecurity best practices.
• We require experience developing software in regulated medical device or SaMD environments, with familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
• We consider knowledge of healthcare interoperability and imaging standards, such as DICOM and SMART on FHIR, an asset.
• We consider experience with privacy and healthcare data regulations such as HIPAA, PHIPA, PIPEDA, and GDPR an asset.
• We need the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• We require a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, and/or at least 5 years of relevant software development experience.
• We expect demonstrated success delivering software in healthcare.
• We need the ability to lead technical projects, suppliers, or development teams.
• We value strong problem-solving, execution, communication, and organizational skills, along with a results-focused mindset.
• We require the ability to commute to our Toronto office or relocate before starting work.
• We note that the role is in person and may involve lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities:

• We will have you own and maintain our technical software stack across the portfolio, leading architecture, system design, development, integration, deployment, testing, and maintenance of our medical imaging SaMD systems.
• You will define and guide software architecture, technology choices, and technical standards.
• You will lead internal and external development teams and suppliers across the full software development lifecycle.
• You will partner with product management and cross-functional stakeholders to align technical delivery with our product vision and roadmap.
• You will oversee cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevOps practices to support reliability and compliance.
• You will contribute to software testing, verification, validation, release management, and deployment activities.
• You will build scalable, maintainable, and well-documented software solutions.
• You will perform hands-on software development, integration, and troubleshooting.
• You will prepare technical documentation, including IEC 62304-compliant materials and software risk management documentation.
• You will support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of medical device and SaMD quality management processes.
• You will help integrate and apply AI across our organization.
• You will take on other duties as assigned.
