Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description
Join our Civil Engineering Department engaged in nuclear civil engineering work involving structural analysis, civil design, and ageing management. You will support the life extension, plant modification, and service work of existing Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) and New Builds. We are seeking multiple Civil/Structural engineers for full-time term/permanent positions to perform structural and seismic analysis, design checks, and assessments of structures, systems, and components.
Responsibilities
- Play a lead role in assigned projects, developing design plans and methodologies.
- Provide technical instructions to staff and manage project civil scope within budget and schedule.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and QA programs.
- Formulate advanced techniques and concepts in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design deliverables, including calculations, layouts, sketches, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Review detailed design calculations and analysis for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry elements as per relevant CSA Standards and codes.
- Coordinate structural work with other engineering disciplines.
- Perform design review or verification on technical documents prepared by others.
- Ensure quality, consistency, accuracy, and completeness of engineering deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and support for design and construction activities.
- Deliver all technical engineering tasks within specified timelines and budgets with high quality.
- Investigate and report on field problems, perform walk-downs and inspections.
- Support analysis of structural systems and elements using Analysis Software programs.
- Assist in project delivery and support engineers in daily engineering activities and coordination.
- Review technical specification documents and apply sound engineering principles to activities.
- Provide technical instructions to junior staff or designers for developing engineering documentation.
- Review and comment on work performed by others to ensure accuracy and quality of technical information and design documentation.
- Provide engineering input and support to Field Engineering groups.
Essential Skills
- 15 years of experience in structural analysis and design in steel and concrete structures.
- Professional Engineer registered in the Province of Ontario.
- Deep understanding of structural engineering principles through design-office and site experience.
- Experience with static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards, including CSA N289 Series.
- Proficiency in analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or SAFE.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher is an asset.
- 3 to 5 years of site or field experience in Nuclear Power Plants or industrial buildings is an asset.
- Knowledge of Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of applicable Nuclear safety codes and regulations.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Mathcad.
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Power Plant modification process.
Work Environment
The work location is in Mississauga or Pickering. Flexible working arrangements are available for exceptionally talented individuals who may work from home. We also offer flexibility in working hours, accommodating individuals with limited availability.

This is a Contract position based out of Mississauga, ON.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95.00 - $125.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
