Be a safety leader and champion fire and life safety engineering principles.

Lead the design and development of fire protection systems for hydroelectric generating stations, including sprinkler systems, fire detection and alarm systems, special hazard protection systems, water supply systems, and associated piping networks.

Act as a Professional of Record, preparing and sealing engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and reports.

Perform fire protection engineering assessments, field investigations, site assessments, hazard analyses, code compliance reviews, and risk-based evaluations.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, protection and controls, operations, maintenance, construction management, and project management.

Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs from project initiation through construction and commissioning.

Prepare design calculations, engineering reports, technical specifications, construction packages, and procurement support documentation.

Review and accept the work of external consultants and contractors on behalf of the company.

Support project planning, cost estimating, scheduling, construction support, commissioning, and turnover activities.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technologists, designers, and consultants.

Participate in water supply evaluations, hydraulic calculations, fire scenario assessments, and system performance analyses.

Develop practical and cost-effective solutions that support operational requirements, safety objectives, and asset management strategies.

Continuously seek opportunities to improve engineering practices, standards, design tools, and work processes.

Be comfortable travelling to and working at hydroelectric generating stations throughout British Columbia.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).

Senior candidates: minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of fire protection systems in industrial, utility, power generation, mining, oil and gas, heavy industrial, or similar facilities.

Strong understanding of fire protection engineering principles, codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Experience executing engineering work from conceptual design through construction, commissioning, and turnover
