Senior CMS Solution Architect / Technical Lead Contract | Remote, Canada | Potential travel within Canada About the opportunity Aequilibrium is assembling a senior technical team for a potential large-scale digital experience modernization initiative involving a multi-site, multi-brand public web ecosystem.
We are looking for a Senior CMS Solution Architect / Technical Lead with deep experience architecting and delivering enterprise CMS/DXP implementations and migrations.
The hourly rate for this multi year contract position is b/w $80/h-$100/h.
The successful candidate will help define the technical architecture, guide the implementation team and ensure the solution is secure, scalable, maintainable and appropriate for a complex public-facing digital ecosystem.
What you'll do Define the overall CMS/DXP solution architecture for a multi-site environment.
Translate business, UX and content requirements into a scalable technical architecture.
Define content models, reusable components, templates and multi-site architecture.
Guide CMS configuration and implementation while minimizing unnecessary customization.
Develop the approach for migrating a large existing content estate from a legacy enterprise CMS.
Define integration patterns with identity, analytics, search and other enterprise systems.
Lead technical design reviews and establish development standards.
Guide full-stack developers and review implementation quality.
Establish security-by-design principles across the solution.
Collaborate with DevOps/SRE specialists on cloud architecture, environments and CI/CD.
Address performance, scalability, monitoring, logging and operational requirements.
Support technical documentation, knowledge transfer and production readiness.
What we're looking for Strong candidates will have: 10+ years of software/solution architecture experience with substantial CMS/DXP experience.
Led at least 2 significant enterprise CMS implementations or re-platforming initiatives .
Experience designing multi-site / multi-brand CMS architectures .
Experience with modern headless or hybrid CMS architectures.
Strong cloud architecture experience.
Experience with CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
Strong understanding of web security, privacy, RBAC, SSO/identity and observability.
Experience with large-scale automated and manual content migrations.
Experience working with UX, content and design-system teams rather than operating solely as a backend architect.
Strong client-facing communication and technical leadership skills.
Particularly valuable experience We are especially interested in candidates with one or more of the following: dotCMS implementation experience Liferay migration experience Government or Canadian public-sector digital transformation Large-scale multi-site implementations AWS-based managed CMS environments Canadian data residency requirements SOC 2 environments Entra ID / enterprise identity integration WCAG 2.2 AA public websites Experience with enterprise platforms such as dotCMS, Liferay, Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, Contentful, Drupal, Optimizely or comparable platforms is relevant, although direct dotCMS experience would be particularly valuable.
