A Journeyman Technician is a certified highly skilled professional (often holding a Red Seal in Canada) responsible for independently diagnosing repairing and maintaining complex mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems . They perform advanced troubleshooting engine repairs and quality control checks while mentoring apprentices and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Core Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Troubleshooting : Using advanced diagnostic equipment to identify malfunctions in engines transmissions brakes and electrical systems.
• Repair & Maintenance : Performing complex repairs including engine overhauls drivetrain repairs and electrical system diagnostics.
• Quality Assurance : Testing repaired equipment to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Documentation : Keeping accurate records of services repairs and parts usage.
• Mentorship : Guiding apprentices and providing technical support to junior staff.
• Customer Service : Explaining technical issues and repair recommendations to service advisors or customers.
• Training : maintaining the training as required by dealerships manufacturer.
