Production Manager - Contract

A leading heavy manufacturing plant has an opportunity for a contract Production Manager to join their team in Burlington. Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations on the plant floor to optimize labour utilization, maintain throughput, and satisfy client production orders.
- Supervise 65 hourly union personnel while actively fostering safe work practices, maintaining positive labor relations, and addressing grievances.
- Utilize time-tracking software, such as Workday or Kronos, to review, manage, and verify daily employee punch logs and attendance.
- Monitor operational metrics, generate plant performance summaries, and track key indicators using systems like ShopLogix and QAD.
- Partner alongside quality, maintenance, and shipping teams to minimize machine downtime, conduct root-cause analysis, and refine processes.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives, coordinate cycle counts, and manage shop floor inventory levels without finished goods storage.

Qualifications
- Proven background exceeding five years of operational leadership experience within a heavy manufacturing facility.
- Strong familiarity with managing unionized workforces and upholding collective bargaining agreements.
- Proficiency with workforce management programs like Workday or Kronos, alongside manufacturing ERPs and ShopLogix software.
- Demonstrated resilience, strong decision-making capabilities, and self-motivation in fast-paced, high-volume production settings.
- Practical understanding of metal stamping, forming equipment, and heavy industrial processes, with an engineering background considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution capabilities to guide cross-functional teams effectively.
