Category Manager for a leading global consumer packaged goods (CPG/FMCG) organization in North York, ON.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced category management professional to drive category growth, shopper insights, retail execution, and trade marketing strategies across key retail channels. In this role, you will serve as the primary Trade Marketing contact for your assigned category, partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, and Retail teams to maximize category performance and deliver sustainable business results.

- Shift: Monday-Friday | Shift within 8:00am-5:00pm | Hybrid (3 days a week on site)

Responsibilities: Category Strategy & Development - Lead the development and execution of category growth strategies aligned with business objectives and trade marketing priorities
- Serve as the primary category management contact for assigned product categories
- Build compelling category growth stories and long-term category visions
- Identify opportunities to maximize category performance and market share
- Support innovation launches and new product development initiatives by integrating category and shopper insights
Category Management & Retail Execution - Develop retail mix standards and category merchandising recommendations
- Establish planogram guidelines and shelving strategies to optimize in-store execution
- Define product placement recommendations for shelves, secondary displays, and checkout locations
- Support category development initiatives across established and emerging retail channels
- Develop activation and execution guidelines to enhance in-store visibility and performance
Shopper Insights & Market Analysis - Analyze shopper behavior, market trends, syndicated data, and competitive activity
- Identify category growth opportunities and develop actionable recommendations
- Monitor key category performance metrics and shopper KPIs
- Leverage insights to influence strategic business decisions and category plans
Trade Marketing & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and Commercial teams to implement category initiatives
- Develop tools, processes, and reporting to strengthen category management capabilities
- Support sales negotiations through category-based recommendations and retail strategies
- Contribute to special projects and strategic business initiatives
Reporting & Continuous Improvement - Develop category performance reports and business reviews
- Support target setting for retail visibility and in-store execution programs
- Continuously evaluate category performance and recommend improvements
- Drive best practices in category management, assortment planning, and shopper marketing
Qualifications and Skills: - 7-10 years of experience within the CPG/FMCG industry in Category Management, Trade Marketing, or related functions
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian retail landscape
- Extensive experience using syndicated data and category management principles
- Experience developing category growth strategies and retail selling stories
- Knowledge of space management and planogram software
- Strong project and process management experience
- Budget management experience
- Experience collaborating with customer business teams and sales organizations
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices and category management methodologies
- Experience working with SAP, BI tools, and business planning systems is considered an asset
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to translate shopper insights into actionable business recommendations
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration
- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
