What do you offer? Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst (FA) is responsible for preparing budgets, cashflow forecasts, monthly reports, and AR monitoring for Employment and Newcomer funding contracts. In addition, the FA is responsible for maintaining the fixed asset and deferred capital contribution subledger, general accounting tasks including month end entries, account reconciliations, audit preparation and other related duties. The successful candidate will demonstrate personal commitment to and understanding of the Y’s mission, vision, and values.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

Analyze expense data to identify trends and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.

Identify process inconsistencies and provide recommendations to increase workflow efficiency.

Analyze outstanding project receivables and notify the Controller of potential cash flow impacts.

Assess tasks and assign priority based on reporting deadlines and task complexity in a fast-paced environment.

Prepare annual & multi-year program budgets in co-operation with program AVPs for government and non-government funders; provide data for preparation of Association annual budget.

The successful candidate will have the following: Education

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Language

Fluent in English, oral and written

Experience, Skills and Abilities

3-5 years’ work experience in accounting, particularly project accounting.

Experience participating in annual and project audits.

Experience preparing budgets and cash-flow projections.

Experience with fixed asset accounting, including subledger maintenance, depreciation, and reconciliation.

Experience with deferred capital contributions and related accounting processes.

Excellent knowledge of MS Excel is mandatory.

Previous accounting experience working in a non-profit organization or charity is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required.Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.

Annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
