Discovery Kidd has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).

The Position: Reporting to the Health and Hygiene Supervisor, the Registered Practical Nurse provides emergency care for all occupational injuries and non-occupational illnesses and provides health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health.

Key Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to:

Provide a wide variety of nursing services, and to document nursing care given

Provide emergency nursing care for all occupational and non-occupational injury or illness

Provide continuing nursing care to hasten recovery

Provide individual health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health

Assist with research for WSIB claims as required

Schedule employees for medical surveillance and testing

Perform respirator fit testing, audiometry, pre-placement assessments

Maintain computer records, and maintain proper filing of medical reports

Serve as first-line emergency response

Perform a number of other non-medical duties

Skills and Qualifications: The ideal Candidate will have:

A valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, CPR certification, and Administration of Medications certification.

First Aid and Audiometry certification is desirable but will be provided if necessary.

Previous nursing experience is essential.

Capable of working independently in a self-directed manner and comfortable working in a confidential manner and controlling confidential material.

Capable of responding to emergency situations quickly and calmly, and of directing non-medical personnel during emergencies.

Compensation and Benefits: Competitive total compensation package including:

Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and

Annual compensation of CAD$63,000 to CAD$80,000.
