Job descriptionTri-Cities, BC | 4–8 hours/week | $22–$28/hour We are looking for a warm, mature and dependable person to provide companionship and practical household support to an independent older woman living in the Tri-Cities. This is not primarily a personal-care position. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with older adults and would like to develop a consistent, long-term relationship with one person. The ideal person will be comfortable moving naturally between helping around the home, spending time together and accompanying her to activities and outings in the community. The Role Responsibilities will include: Light housekeeping and general tidying Laundry and changing bedding Grocery shopping and occasional errands Accompanying her to appointments Driving/accompanying her to recreational activities, including snooker Gardening together and assisting with light garden activities Coffee, lunch and other social outings Occasional meal preparation Conversation and companionship Supporting familiar routines, activities and interests Our goal is to provide a little extra support while helping her remain active, socially engaged and as independent as possible. Who We're Looking For You are warm, patient, trustworthy and reliable. You enjoy conversation and spending time with older adults and are equally comfortable helping with laundry, heading to the garden, going shopping or accompanying someone on an outing. Experience supporting older adults is preferred. Experience or education as an HCA, home-support worker, nurse, recreation-therapy worker, occupational-therapy assistant or similar role would be an asset, but the right personality, maturity and reliability are equally important. Retired or semi-retired health-care and community-care professionals are very welcome to apply. Requirements Excellent recent references Criminal record/vulnerable-sector screening Valid driver's licence and safe driving record Reliable vehicle suitable for transporting an older adult Appropriate automobile insurance Legally entitled to work in Canada Comfortable with light housekeeping and laundry Dependable availability for consistent weekly visits First Aid/CPR preferred Hours & Compensation Approximately 4–8 hours per week, ideally on a consistent weekday schedule. Hours may be divided between one or two visits depending on availability and activities planned. There may be an opportunity for additional hours over time. $22–$28/hour, depending on experience, qualifications and the scope of support provided. Continuity is very important to us.
