Job Title: Continuous Improvement SpecialistReporting to: Mr. William Tennant, Assistant General ManagerNOC Code: 22302Number of Openings: 1Type of Position: Permanent; Full-time Term: PermanentSalary: $36.00 - $42.00 CAD per hour, plus annual performance bonus and discretionary bonus. For more information about Martinrea and its global operations, please visit and responsibilities The Continuous Improvement Specialist will be responsible for the following duties: Identify and improve manufacturing and operational processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality, and support customer satisfaction. Execute corporate manufacturing standards, policies, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. Analyze and optimize manufacturing layouts, workflows, and production processes in accordance with lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve productivity. Train and support manufacturing personnel in continuous improvement methodologies, corporate standards, and operational best practices. Support the implementation and safe launch of new manufacturing programs, processes, equipment, and tooling. Identify operational risks, quality concerns, and process inefficiencies and recommend corrective and preventative actions. Perform data collection, analysis, and reporting to identify quality trends, manufacturing issues, process variation, and opportunities for improvement.Collect, analyze, and interpret operational and production data to support quality assurance, manufacturing performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to address manufacturing, quality, and production concerns.Plan, coordinate, and participate in cross-functional teams focused on manufacturing efficiency, quality improvement, productivity enhancement, scrap reduction, safety, and delivery performance. Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation in accordance with automotive, customer, and corporate requirements. Support supplier and tooling evaluation activities related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and new program launches. Assist with the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, production equipment, fixtures, tooling, and error-proofing systems. Initiate and support Design of Experiments (DOE) activities and prepare reports and recommendations based on findings. Conduct studies and implement projects focused on production efficiency, cost reduction, quality improvement, and process optimization. Analyze manufacturing data and prepare reports and recommendations for management regarding process improvements and operational performance. Maintain current knowledge of manufacturing technologies, automation systems, quality standards, and continuous improvement methodologies. Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable health, safety, environmental, customer, and corporate requirements. Contribute to the development and improvement of process flow charts, Control Plans, PFMEA, DFMEA, prototype builds, and other quality planning documentation. Support the development and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment and production systems. Troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment issues and implement solutions to reduce defects, downtime, and operational inefficiencies. Review manufacturing methods and recommend improvements to increase productivity, quality, reliability, and in-house manufacturing capabilities. Participate in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and operational excellence initiatives throughout the organization. Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment and comply with all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.This position does not require any provincial license or certification in Ontario.Job Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. ExperienceMinimum 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, continuous improvement, quality, process engineering, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.Experience participating in lean manufacturing, process improvement, quality improvement, production optimization, or continuous improvement initiatives. Experience working within an automotive manufacturing environment is considered an asset. Working knowledge of automotive OEM requirements, manufacturing processes, and quality standards. Experience with PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, process flow development, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies. Experience with manufacturing layouts, workflow optimization, and process improvement initiatives. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering/manufacturing software. Knowledge of CAD software, automation systems, and manufacturing equipment is considered an asset. Ability to travel occasionally as required.
