Job description

Production Planning Supervisor

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a trusted multi-service engineering and electronics manufacturing company. Aversan delivers leading-edge and reliable safety-critical electronics and software systems to the aerospace, defence, and space industries.

We are currently seeking a qualified Production Planning Supervisor to join our team. The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising production control activities to ensure effective execution of the production plan, material availability, and smooth operational flow. The role works closely with program teams, manufacturing, and cross functional partners (procurement, logistics, engineering, quality), with a strong focus on problem solving and continuous improvement.

Location: Montreal, QC

Job-type: Full time

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Responsibilities

  • Coach, engage, and develop the production control team (coaching, training, and mentoring of less experienced employees).
  • Assign and balance workload based on priorities, skills, and teams’ capacity; adjust assignments to address unplanned events or absences.
  • Monitor team performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment; promote company values and health and safety expectations.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment process and performance evaluations, ensuring objectives and expectations are clearly defined and communicated.
  • Lead daily production control activities to support execution of the production plan and decision making on the shop floor.
  • Promote a strong on time delivery (OTD) culture across all program milestones through appropriate monitoring and control mechanisms.
  • Identify idle situations and provide the analysis required to support priority-setting and trade-off decisions.
  • Quickly identify and highlight execution constraints (e.g., missing kits/unavailable parts, material blockers) and trigger actions with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy and rigor for statuses (progress, priorities, exceptions) in tracking tools (ERP systems, dashboards, reports) to maintain reliable operational alignment.
  • Participate in team meetings and operational routines (e.g., DMM meetings) and ensure tracking of action items and commitments.
  • Clearly communicate progress, identified issues, and required arbitrations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the team with internal customers and act as a liaison with management for special situations.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformities or deviations impacting execution (e.g., process anomalies, data issues, material discrepancies).
  • Actively contributes to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving quality, productivity, and efficiency within production control activities.
  • Propose, document, and deploy process improvements (standardization, reduction of inefficiencies, role clarification, and improved communication practices).
  • Ensure adherence to procedures and standard work methods, and support updates to standards when required.
  • Participate in structured problem-solving activities (root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions) and in the development of relevant performance indicators.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management option, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory or coordination role within a manufacturing, planning, or production control environment.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience within production planning and control organization.
  • Strong knowledge of production management principles, production planning, and production control.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills.
  • Knowledge of production management tools and systems, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and supply chain management tools.
  • Bilingual French and English (Transact with suppliers outside Quebec).
