We are currently seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer (COBOL / CICS / DB2) - Onsite in Halifax to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia (CA-NS), Canada (CA).

We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to provide technical leadership in designing, enhancing, and supporting high-volume, mission-critical mainframe applications. In this role, you will drive key initiatives, modernize platform capabilities, mentor engineering teams, and ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of enterprise systems supporting large-scale transaction processing.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while influencing architecture, best practices, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for strategic mainframe initiatives and platform enhancements.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance solutions for mission-critical applications.
• Define and promote engineering standards, best practices, and code quality.
• Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Evaluate existing platform architecture and recommend improvements to meet evolving business needs.
• Partner with Operations to plan infrastructure upgrades, optimize system performance, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, enhance system reliability, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, and production support activities.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, DB2, VSAM, and JCL.
• Strong experience developing and supporting high-volume, transaction-intensive mainframe applications.
• Solid knowledge of CICS, including Dynamic Transaction Routing.
• Experience with DB2 utilities, File-AID, schedulers, and debugging tools.
• Understanding of distributed applications and system integration.
• Experience working with highly available, fault-tolerant, data-driven enterprise systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of CICS systems experience.
• Experience in the Brokerage, Financial Services, or Capital Markets industry.
• Exposure to large-scale enterprise modernization or platform transformation initiatives.

Pay Transparency

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $ $84,360 - $146,540. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.

This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
