About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Meter Technician who takes pride in safety and precision. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring accurate energy measurement for thousands of customers by installing, testing, and repairing advanced metering systems. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor – Technical Services, you’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge equipment and contribute to reliable service across Greater Sudbury.
The successful candidate will:
- Install, remove, and verify polyphase and single-phase meters
- Perform meter calibrations, repairs, and adjustments
- Conduct power factor analysis and cross-reading verification
- Respond to customer metering layout requests
- Complete documentation and terminal input as required
- Check customer’s voltage and install current and voltage recorders as required
- Assist with load surveys which include removal of tapes, services, install or replace faulty recorders
- Investigate diversion of power
- Carry out transformer checks
Seeking the following qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years at community college level in electrical or instrumentation
- Completion of Meter Technician Training Course and required apprenticeship
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competent knowledge and understanding of meter methods of communication such as: cellular / Fibre/TCP IP / RS232 and Radio
- Must have competent working knowledge of Utility’s revenue metering system
- Valid class G driver’s license as job duties require frequent field work
- Team oriented with a positive attitude
