Job description

Organization Mission: Our mission is to contribute to the holistic health, cultural strength, and success of Indigenous families, individuals, and communities living in the greater Montreal area.


The history of our organization: Native Montreal is a non-profit Indigenous community organization that offers a continuum of services encompassing cultural, community animation and psychosocial intervention programs for various age groups. We are a Friendship Centre and part of the national and provincial Friendship Centre movement as such, we are an urban service centre dedicated to serving Indigenous peoples.


Context of the Position: Native Montreal is an organization recognized by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) as the coordinating partner of the Jordan's Principle financial support program for Indigenous children as well as for the renewal of the Trusted Source Indian status card. Both of these programs require a high volume of administrative transactions as well as coordination between departments, service providers, members and Indigenous Services Canada. The organization also has various partnerships for food security, transportation, access to the city's infrastructure or donations to activities that require coordination with members and partners.


Your mission : Coordinate and administer various member support services in an efficient, user-friendly manner focused on continuous process improvement.


Jordan's Principle/Child First Initiative (50%)

  • Advise colleagues as well as certain partners or parents when preparing an application;
  • Analyze and process funding applications prepared by various sectors and partners of the organization and provide feedback when required;
  • Communicate with applicants and ISC when applications are approved or denied and provide feedback;
  • Ensure the receipt, processing and filing of invoices for approved applications;
  • Ensure sound financial management of the program by ensuring the balance of purchase records according to approved funding requests (e.g., taxi coupons, telephones and any other goods, used for/by members funded by this program);
  • Acquisition of all services or materials of a general non-therapeutic nature;
  • Ensure supplier documentation in the database;


Source; (25%)

  • Support participants in applying for an Indian status card renewal;
  • Forward renewal applications;
  • For a first application for Indian status, inform applicants of the process and refer them to the Indigenous Services Canada regional office;
  • Coordinate program promotion activities;


Other related services (15%)

  • Ensure the sound management of the distribution of access to the food security program by coordinating the allocation to members in collaboration with our intervention and health departments;
  • Manage the supply and distribution of any other service or property under its responsibility (example but not limited to: transport ticket, access to the botanical garden, donation of cultural and sports activities)

General Administrative Support (10%)

  • Develop procedures and policy recommendations related to services;
  • Update the database;
  • Ensure the sound administration of employees' petty cash;
  • Replace the person who welcomes members, partners and suppliers on an ad hoc basis with a friendly and efficient approach
  • any other tasks related to the objective

What you offer:


Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in administration or other relevant studies;
  • 3 years of experience in related work experience;
  • Experience in serving Indigenous peoples and/or a good knowledge of Indigenous issues;
  • Experience in customer service is an asset;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G-suite, Relational Database;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English;
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

What we offer:

  • Full-time job, 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday (Exceptionally evenings and weekends)
  • A competitive salary according to our salary policy ($50,000 - $70,649)

  • 3 weeks of vacation after the first year. (Including two additional fixed weeks for the holiday season available from the first year)
