General Labour - Shop Assistant

We are seeking a reliable, mechanically inclined General Labourer to join a fast-paced shop environment. This role combines indoor shop assembly work with outdoor material handling. If you are comfortable working with hand and power tools, reading a measuring tape, and performing active physical work, this is an excellent opportunity for steady full-time hours on a straight day shift schedule.

Responsibilities
Outdoor Material Handling: Work outside to remove steel/plastic strapping from incoming skids and staging areas.

Heavy Lifting: Lift, carry, and maneuver heavy sheets of plywood and structural materials around the shop floor.

Tool Operation: Safely operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment.

Precision Work: Use measuring tapes to accurately verify material dimensions before cutting or assembly.

Shop Maintenance: Assist with general shop cleanup, maintaining an organized workstation, and adhering to all workplace safety rules.

Qualifications
Transportation: Must have reliable personal transportation (car/vehicle required as the facility is not bus accessible).

Physical Stamina: Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, stand for long periods, and comfortably lift up to 40 lbs regularly throughout the shift.

Tool & Math Skills: Proven experience using measuring tapes, hand tools, and power tools in a shop, construction, or manufacturing setting.

Communication: Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking well) to follow technical instructions and safety guidelines.

Work Ethic: Strong dexterity, hand-eye coordination, punctuality, and a dependable work ethic.
