Our values We put our people first by focusing on their well-being and success. We value collaboration across diverse groups to solve challenges today and to anticipate what’s next. Collaboration fuels our creativity, allowing us to explore new ways to achieve our goals. We’re a team that wants to make a difference by delivering relevant, timely, and engaging programs that meet the evolving needs of our community and partners. Organization overview

Are you passionate about making a difference? Join the SafeCare BC team and have a positive impact on healthcare workers across the province. We are a non‑profit health and safety association for BC’s continuing care sector. Our mandate is to reduce injuries among care workers and leaders by providing education, training, and resources across the province. Working at SafeCare BC is suited for someone who is motivated by making a meaningful impact for health care workers by implementing evidence‑based resources through the creation of practical, people‑centred OHS services. As a small organization, we often adapt quickly to meet the changing needs of our members, which requires flexibility, curiosity, and a willingness to contribute in different ways. Position overview

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Senior Advisor supports the development and delivery of evidence‑based OHS services for SafeCare BC members. Working closely with the OHS Services team, this role develops resources, programs, and initiatives that respond to the evolving needs of the continuing care sector. This role combines technical OHS expertise, program development, and applied analysis to translate legislation, evidence, and sector needs into practical tools, processes, training, and resources that can be applied to real‑world healthcare environments. The position operates with a high degree of independence in developing resources, interpreting regulatory requirements, and contributing to program direction, while collaborating with internal and external partners. This role is suited to someone comfortable working in complex environments, balancing regulatory requirements, frontline realities, and practical implementation in healthcare settings. It requires a collaborative, adaptable, and solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities

Champion OHS: Promote and advance OHS initiatives and supportive services for SafeCare BC members. Resource development: Assess, evaluate, develop, design, and continuously improve OHS resources, tools, and guidance materials and sector resources. Data insights and reporting: Analyze OHS data and trends to support decision‑making and identify emerging risks in continuing care, including practical control measures for program improvements. Collaborative projects: Coordinate and contribute to projects to ensure effective collaboration and member support. Training and education: Support development and delivery of training, workshops, and learning resources. Regulatory expertise: Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Workers Compensation Act (WCA), Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR), and other applicable BC requirements. Strategic initiatives: Support resource development, outreach, psychological health and safety initiatives, and compliance programs. Stakeholder Engagement: Support communication and reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Brand Representation: Uphold SafeCare BC’s values and reputation in all interactions. Flexibility: Support evolving priorities and additional duties as required. Education and experience

Post‑secondary education in OHS with a minimum of 3–5 years of direct OHS experience. Experience in practically applying OHS legislation in healthcare, continuing care, social services, with an understanding of adult education is considered a strong asset. Specialized experience with emergency preparedness or disability claims management is an asset. Knowledge and skills

Strong working knowledge of provincial OHS legislation and regulations, with demonstrated ability to apply and implement requirements in practical workplace settings, including developing and operationalizing OHS programs, processes, and controls. Experience implementing OHS program components such as hazard assessments, incident investigations, inspections, training programs, and corrective action processes. Understanding of disability management principles and return‑to‑work programming, ideally within healthcare. Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint, Planner). Experience with data tools, LMS platforms, and WorkSafeBC dashboards is an asset. Project management skills are an asset (we can support development in this area). Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage competing priorities. Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are assets. We’re looking for someone who:

Uses feedback to continuously improve Collaborates effectively to solve problems Balances initiative with knowing when to seek input Enjoys creating practical, meaningful OHS solutions for healthcare workers Is curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning Works well in evolving, complex environments where priorities may shift Is based in the Lower Mainland, and is eligible to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship or permanent residency) Why this role matters

Continuing care is one of the most physically and psychologically demanding sectors in healthcare. This role directly contributes to reducing workplace injuries, strengthening safety culture, and improving day‑to‑day working conditions for thousands of care workers across BC. You will help translate OHS evidence and regulation into tools that are practical, usable, and meaningful for frontline environments. What SafeCare BC offers
