Job description

Title: Packaging Engineer
Location: Simcoe, ON
Duration: Months

Responsibilities:

  • Use experience and expertise to coach and guide assigned work of Maintenance Technicians within expected timelines to the quality required by spending a significant part of day on the shop floor (/ rule) – % of time on the floor and only % in meetings or administrative tasks.
  • Identify skill gaps within the team and address them through targeted training and development initiatives in coordination with HR or external trainers (Skill matrix)
  • Provide appropriate equipment and training to ensure safe working practices are upheld, and environmental standards are adhered to.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to ensure accurate weekly plans, optimal resource allocation, timely execution of PMs/CMs, and full staffing to support production demands
  • Supervise Mechanical & Electrical Technicians and work with reliability engineer and stockroom coordinator.
  • Ensure availability and reliability of equipment to meet production plans by applying ICMS PM methodology and ensuring completion of all scheduled PMs and Tag tasks.
  • Validate standards applied by operators performing autonomous maintenance (AM) tasks and review with First Line Managers in production as necessary.
  • Serves as PM Pillar Champion and supports all other ICMS Pillars as needed.
  • Enforce AMMS use and review entries for accuracy and timeliness and act and hold accountability where required.
  • Assess opportunities for continuous improvement in both preventive and predictive maintenance and build into ongoing plans.
  • Own maintenance KPIs.
  • Drive breakdown reduction using robust RCA aligned with ICMS methodology. Lead and complete actions on EWOs for breakdowns.
  • Responsible for executing and verifying food safety and quality equipment maintenance PMs.
  • Ensure the MOC process is followed for all equipment improvements to reduce risks in both safety and food safety.
  • Protection of employee health and safety by meeting legislative requirements, providing instruction regarding safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and plant safety rules. Par, etc.
  • Responsible for SHE, Quality Programs, Incidents root cause and CAPA pertaining to Maintenance and ensuring completion / compliance including reviews of applicable SHE, quality and food safety processes, SOP's, Work Instructions
  • Manage performance and behavior of the maintenance team. Provide coaching, discipline where needed, and enforce CBA compliance
  • Lead and support annual shutdowns, planned overhauls, and major maintenance activities in collaboration with the planner.
  • Responsible for ensuring all F tags assigned are executed in a timely fashion
  • Responsible to share visibility of plant losses applicable to PM on a hr cycle and collaborate with production team through FOS meetings etc.
  • Utilizing Kronos timekeeping system to maintain weekly record of hours worked, along with explanation of overtime worked and ensures hours worked, vacation, personal hours, absences, etc. are correctly documented so employees are paid accurately
  • Partner with AM leader for AM/PM activities
  • Lead/participate in OEE/waste reduction initiatives
  • Maintain full S compliance in maintenance areas and storerooms
  • Monitor and optimize external services under account (Services)
