Job description

Interior Health is looking for an experienced Manager, Collaboration Systems to join our team on a full time Project position that is expected to last until March 31st 2029.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $108,147 (min) to $135,184 (midpoint) to $155,461 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Interior Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

About The Job

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Manager, Collaboration Systems (Manager) will identify, plan, and implement technology to support communication and collaboration initiatives within the organization. The Manager is responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and execution of initiatives to ensure alignment with the business needs of Interior Health and the Digital Health portfolio. This includes evaluating emerging technologies in an effort to find technology solutions that provide value to the organization.

Typical duties and responsibilities

  • Develops strategies for collaboration and communication-based technologies with both an IH and/or a provincial focus.
  • Represents IH in the Digital Health community by liaising with provincial partners, other organizations, software vendors, and on various internal and external committees.
  • Participates in provincial governance committees and working groups to develop standards and set direction.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to assigned team members utilizing effective management activities such as coaching, mentoring, skills and leadership development, and performance management, including disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Manages the activities of the Collaboration Technologies team by performing duties such as:
  • Coordination of work activities within the department by establishing work schedules and priorities, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
  • Maintaining timekeeping/payroll documentation and performing other related duties such as scheduling for relief staff, authorizing overtime, and arranging vacations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Hiring staff by reviewing applications, conducting interviews, checking references, and on boarding new staff.
  • Evaluating employee performance, determining related training and orientation requirements, and facilitating employee personal and career development.
  • Providing direction and coaching to team members to meet organizational needs and expectations.
  • Manages the implementation and support of technology applications and systems that support collaboration within the organization with a primary focus on Microsoft 365 (Office, Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive).
  • Develops a framework for the ongoing evolution of systems including capacity planning and end user needs analysis and training, ensuring the systems grow to meet the changing needs of the organization.
  • Defines and establishes governance models pertaining to ownership, accountability, policies and procedures, end-user support, disaster recovery, and systems development.
  • Investigates and defines information seeking strategies in the workplace focusing on the people in the organization and behaviors that are part of their daily routines (social networking).
  • Acts as a liaison with members of the assigned areas/departments and vendors to trouble shoot problems, assess priorities, research and evaluate alternatives, and implement recommendations.
  • In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
