Job description

Note: This is a vacancy for 1 part-time Faculty position (up to 6 hours per week) starting September 8, 2026 and ending December 18, 2026.

Note: This in-person position is located at 369 Finkle Street, Woodstock, ON N4V 1A3.

Fanshawe College is seeking a qualified and motivated Chemistry professional to teach in the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program at the Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus.

Why This Role Is Important

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Woodstock/Oxford Regional campus, a part-time Professor at Fanshawe College is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. Chemistry is a foundational pillar of this program: Students must develop confidence in chemical principles and their application to human health before entering advanced diploma and degree programs. Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required, and the successful candidate will be required to perform work within Ontario.

We require qualified faculty to teach across the following areas:

  • General Chemistry: Atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and quantities in chemical reactions
  • Solutions and Solubility: Concentration calculations, solubility rules, and colligative properties
  • Acids, Bases and Equilibrium: pH, buffer systems and their physiological relevance
  • Organic Chemistry: Functional groups, reaction types, and organic molecules in biological systems
  • Biochemistry Fundamentals: Biomolecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids) and their roles in human health

An overview of the programs and courses can be found here: Pre-Health Sciences | Fanshawe College

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Deliver high-quality, in-person chemistry instruction to students in the Pre-Health Sciences program, connecting foundational concepts to real-world health sciences applications
  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans, demonstrations, and assessments that are appropriate for adult learners transitioning from secondary school to post-secondary study
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, quizzes, and other course assessments aligned with established Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and program Vocational Learning Outcomes (VLOs)
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support each student’s academic development and preparation for their chosen health career pathway
  • Use Fanshawe’s Learning Management System (FanshaweOnline/FOL) to post course materials, communicate with students, and manage grades
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, and student progress in accordance with College policies
  • Participate in curriculum review processes and contribute to the ongoing improvement of course content in collaboration with the Program Coordinator
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, respectful, and accessible learning environment consistent with Fanshawe’s values and the Ontario Human Rights Code

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree (MSc) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a health sciences field is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of post-degree professional or applied research experience in a chemistry-related field
  • Relevant industry experience, such as pharmaceutical sciences or drug manufacturing, clinical/medical laboratory science, environmental chemistry or testing, healthcare (e.g., pharmacy, clinical biochemistry), biochemistry or life sciences research, or chemical processing and manufacturing
  • Experience working in a laboratory, research, clinical, or regulated industrial setting where applied chemistry knowledge is central to daily practice
  • Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or training experience in a post-secondary, adult education, or professional development context is considered a significant asset
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, learning outcomes, and student evaluation methods in a post-secondary environment is an asset
  • Availability to teach in-person during daytime hours
  • Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
  • Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies
