Job description
Assembly Team Lead A Team Leader uses their manufacturing knowledge and experience of assembly/materials processes to assist the supervisor in leading others and managing challenging, sometimes stressful situations. Clear, effective, professional communication skills are essential (both verbal and written) as well as having and maintaining a good work/safety record. A Team Leader must be highly motivated, and self-directed with the ability to work in a team environment. Team Leaders must exercise independent judgment and initiative in achieving production goals as well as demonstrate good follow-up skills, consulting the supervisor as needed. Candidates will possess the ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, material lists, and other source material. This position requires periodic overtime on short notice to meet customer service. Responsibilities include: Communication/Team Leadership: Supports daily management of the group to meet production and quality metrics. Will assist in the coordination and prioritization of associates’ work activities. Change schedules/priorities when necessary and reassign resources as needed. Function as back up supervisor when required. Lead various group/department meetings (SIM, Safety, etc.). Serve as a liaison for manufacturing/materials/engineering; ensure all barriers to production are escalated and follow through to resolution; participate in production meetings as required. Assist with hand-off between shifts to ensure a smooth transition. Procedures/Policies: Model and maintain adherence to Schneider Electric rules, guidelines, and procedures. Must have knowledge or be willing to develop knowledge of HR, Quality and Safety and Environmental policies/procedures. Will ensure compliance in Safety and Quality procedures. Safety: Support and act as Safety Champion. Ensure safety guidelines and PPE are used within plant. Complete safety audits as required. Quality: Support initiatives and assist in determining the root cause of non-conforming issues. SPS: Must have or develop knowledge of SPS and drive Schneider initiatives and principles. Update SIM boards as needed. Responsible for overall 5S and complete 5S audits as required. Take initiative to use lean concepts to drive continuous improvement. Training: Must be cross-trained (or willing to be cross-trained) in all areas. Assist in training others as directed by Supervisor to include cross training new and existing employees and assist supervisor in assessing skills and training needs for group. Complete lean/SIM training, soft skills training and other training as required. Computer Skills/Software: Knowledge or capability to effectively use and quickly learn various manufacturing computer systems and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, etc.). Develop skills in Excel and Access to assist with group reports. Minimum requirements: Education: High School Diploma / 2-year degree preferred Experience: Must have basic knowledge of all areas and intermediate proficiency of our computer systems 3-5 years in a manufacturing role The department requires PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), plus Safety shoes and safety glasses must be worn on the production floor. Work is performed in a Manufacturing Environment, where prolonged period(s) of standing is required for duration of shift. Requires ability to reach overhead, pull, push, bend, squat, and climb a ladder to perform work. Ability to lift 26 pounds occasionally or 22 pounds independently and repetitively.
