Are you an experienced Electrical Designer with a passion for industrial automation, complex machinery, and technical leadership?
We're looking for a Senior Electrical Designer to join our growing engineering team and take ownership of the electrical hardware design of advanced automated packaging systems. In this role, you'll lead projects from concept through commissioning, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-performance machinery for customers around the world.
This is more than a design role. As our Electrical Engineering function continues to grow, you'll have the opportunity to play a key role in developing engineering standards, mentoring team members, and progressing into a formal Team Lead position.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead electrical hardware design for complex automated machinery projects from concept to production and customer acceptance.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and bills of materials using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Develop practical, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions that balance performance, safety, manufacturability, and quality.
- Select and specify components including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, safety devices, sensors, power supplies, and networking hardware.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, controls, manufacturing, purchasing, and project management teams.
- Ensure designs comply with CSA, UL, NFPA, IEC, and other applicable industry standards.
- Support assembly, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Perform electrical calculations, risk assessments, and contribute to machine safety design.
- Drive continuous improvement, design standardization, and engineering best practices.

What We're Looking For
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience designing electrical hardware for industrial automation, custom machinery, or automated equipment.
- Strong proficiency with EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Expertise in industrial electrical standards including CSA, UL, NFPA 79, and IEC.
- Experience designing machine safety systems and conducting risk assessments.
- Knowledge of PLC and motion control platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, or similar technologies.
- Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions and mentor others.
- Experience within packaging, food, pharmaceutical, medical equipment, or related industries is highly desirable.
