Job description

The Fort St John Association for Community Living (FSJACL) is a non-profit agency which has been providing quality supports to adults with developmental disabilities in the Fort St John and District since 1960.

The FSJACL is an accredited agency with a trained, caring and trusted professional team of over 80 employees who provide quality services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

The FSJACL works collaboratively with community partners to achieve our vision of inclusion for all.

Job Summary The Temporary Floating Program Supervisor provides flexible supervisory coverage across multiple FSJACL programs through our housing and community programs.

The position is responsible for learning the operations, support requirements, staff teams, scheduling and procedures of designated programs and, when assigned, planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing their day-to-day operations.

The position provides leadership and supervision to program staff and manages other assigned resources in accordance with the organization’s mission, Guiding Principles, policies, contractual and legal requirements, and the direction of the Program Manager.

Assignments may vary in duration and location based on operational needs, vacancies, leaves, training requirements, or other coverage needs.

This is a BCGEU position and is covered under union compensation guidelines.

Scope of the Floating Assignment The position is not permanently attached to one program during the temporary appointment.

Program assignments, locations, schedules, and length of coverage may change according to operational need.

The employee is expected to become familiar with and follow the requirements of each assigned program before assuming independent supervisory responsibility.

Program-specific authority is limited to the duties delegated by the Program Manager.

Significant decisions affecting long-term program direction, staffing, budgets, or individual services must be referred to the Program Manager unless otherwise authorized.

The position must maintain continuity by documenting outstanding matters and providing timely handovers when moving between assignments.

Staff Leadership Mentor staff by helping with planning and service delivery ideas.

Strive to maintain an awareness of best practices in the community living sector.

In charge of staff scheduling for the programs that are being supervised.

Makes sure that documentation and Association polices are followed.

Is a role model for the individuals and employees of the FSJACL.

Participates in the On-Call rotation.

Has experience with supporting people with Mental Health and Addictions.

Programs Develop and oversee programs to meet the needs of our clients.

Chair and facilitate staff meeting to bring awareness of our services to ensure we lead the delivery of client centric services.

Represent the Association at community events.

Understanding the role as a liaison person, and representative between the services, parents/families/caregivers, and the community.

Leadership Develop and maintain relationships with each individual and their families based on mutual respect, trust, and celebration of each person’s gifts, talents and unique contributions.

Ensure effective communication with staff and families/caregivers.

Maintain an effective relationship with government officials and community groups.

Maintains liaison with other community organizations to coordinate provision of services, exchange program information, or provide instruction on the operation and use of the assigned services.

Be available to perform the duties of the Support Worker on an on-call basis for emergency situations.

Be part of the Leadership Team by participating in meeting, events and committees as required.

Reporting, Financial Management and Budgets Complete all necessary reporting to funders, government programs, etc.

Supervise expenditures within the existing budget allowance and makes budget recommendations (according to the Internal Control Guidelines).

Ensure accurate reports and individual records are maintained and that confidentiality is a priority.

Ensure that all pertinent and required documentation is complete.

Education and Work Experience Post-Secondary education in a social service-related field, and program administration; or related experience in social services program management and/or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in program management and social services.

Working knowledge of Federal and BC government systems and business administration, licensing, and health regulations and framework.

Valid driver’s license, insurance & reliable transportation.

Clearance of Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.

Knowledge and experience in the Community Living sector is an asset.

Experience in providing leadership or supervision in multiple service settings is an asset.

Hours of Work Primarily between 8:00am to 4:30pm or as required (minimum 37.5 hours per week). Participate in On-Call Rotation. Participation at meetings, conferences, fundraising, and other events may involve long workdays, and/or frequent travel and evening or weekend work. Ability to remain flexible to meet the needs of the services provided. What we offer Benchmark Title: Program Coordinator 2 Wage Grid Level: 14 ($33.77-$38.77/ hour, based on seniority or equivalent experience). A competitive compensation package will be provided including an attractive benefit package.
