Reporting to the Director, Fuel Procurement & Supply Chain, the Energy Procurement Advisor supports the sourcing, pricing, contracting, compliance, invoicing, operational management, and continuous improvement of Air Canada's global jet fuel supply portfolio. The role contributes to managing approximately $5B in annual fuel spend, ensuring security of supply at best economics while supporting supplier relationships, contractual compliance, business automation initiatives, fuel management systems, and cross-functional projects critical to Air Canada's operations and strategic objectives. Responsibilities: Fuel Procurement, Pricing & Supplier Management Conduct market intelligence and supply market analysis to support sourcing decisions and procurement strategies. Responsible for supplier nominations, invoice validations and approvals for all areas of jet fuel supply and supply chain. Monitor jet fuel market fundamentals, commodity pricing drivers, freight costs, geopolitical developments, and industry trends. Support the evaluation, negotiation, implementation, and administration of global fuel supply agreements. Participate in supplier selection processes, RFPs, bid evaluations, and commercial negotiations. Assist in the management of supplier relationships and performance to ensure security of supply and continuous improvement. Contribute to jet fuel pricing analysis, benchmarking, and commercial evaluations to support optimal purchasing decisions. Contracts, Governance & Compliance Assist in drafting, reviewing, executing, and maintaining fuel supply contracts and related commercial agreements. Ensure procurement activities comply with Strategic Procurement policies, governance requirements, and corporate procedures. Support contract lifecycle management activities, including documentation, amendments, audits, and compliance reporting. Conduct supplier due diligence and participate in vendor audits and corrective action programs. Maintain contract records and procurement documentation within approved systems and tools. Operational Fuel Supply & Fuel Management System Support the planning and execution of domestic and international jet fuel supply activities. Monitor supply performance, inventory positions, fuel quality compliance, and operational risks. Coordinate corrective actions related to supply, quality, logistics, or supplier performance issues. Serve as an integral contributor to the Fuel Management System (PAICE), supporting data integrity, reporting, user requirements, system enhancements, and process improvements. Maintain knowledge of fuel handling standards, technical specifications, and Air Canada operational requirements. Business Automation & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting, and operational efficiency. Contribute to business automation initiatives by documenting business requirements, supporting testing activities, and collaborating with technology and business teams. Participate in the development and enhancement of digital tools, analytics, dashboards, and workflow automation solutions supporting fuel operations and procurement. Support organizational initiatives focused on continuous improvement, standardization, and operational excellence. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with Airport Operations, Supply Chain Operations, Finance, Strategic Procurement, Legal, Safety, Technology, Taxation, Customs, and external suppliers to support business objectives. Provide analytical and operational support for projects and priorities outside normal day-to-day activities. Contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at strengthening fuel supply resilience, mitigating risk, enhancing compliance, and delivering best economic outcomes for Air Canada. Support crisis response activities, contingency planning, and operational issue resolution as required. Qualifications University degree in a relevant field such as Commerce, Supply Chain, Finance, or equivalent professional experience. A degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Engineering, or a related field would be considered an asset. Experience in procurement, supply chain, aviation, airports, oil industry, or a related field. Strong business acumen, including the ability to develop business plans, business requirements, and supporting analysis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate cross-functional teams and build productive working relationships. Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under pressure or changing conditions. Resourceful, proactive, and adaptable, with a positive approach to challenges and ambiguity. Strong time management and prioritization skills, with flexibility to adjust to business needs; occasional travel may be required. High degree of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, tact, and sound judgment. Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to innovate and improve ways of working. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in financial analysis and evaluation is a strong asset. 3 years of experience in jet fuel or the oil industry is an asset. 3 years of experience in a purchasing organization, including tendering, bidding, negotiation, and evaluation of major product and/or service contracts, is an asset. Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
