Job Responsibilities

As a Database Developer, you will work as part of an experienced team to help develop Willowglen’s Integrated Command Centre Solution. Users will be able to monitor and control real-time systems for important industry applications using the software you create. We are actively expanding to house a team of developers who will translate existing designs into highly maintainable and scalable designs.

You will be in charge of the following tasks on this team:

• Design and develop SQL databases, schemas, and data models in line with business requirements.
• Create efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data manipulation, extraction, and analysis.
• Enhance database performance by employing indexing, query optimization, and tuning techniques.
• Implement and manage database security measures and access controls to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
• Monitor and address database performance issues, bottlenecks, and inconsistencies.
• Work with software developers, data analysts, and system administrators to integrate database solutions into applications and systems, and document database designs, configurations, and processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
• Design and develop regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and database maintenance while staying informed about new database technologies and best practices to drive ongoing improvement and innovation.
• Provide technical support and guidance on database-related issues to team members and stakeholders.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this profession, you will require the following skills and requirements:

• A Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, or an equivalent is required.
• Proven work experience as Database Developer and strong proficiency in SQL programming and database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with database design, normalization, and optimization techniques.
• Knowledge of database security principles and best practices and familiarity with database monitoring tools and performance tuning methodologies would be advantageous.
• Good communication skills are necessary.
