Job description

Job DescriptionOn behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a DevOps Programmer who will support the Web Digital Office and advance the Province’s IMIT Strategic Plan through the maintenance, optimization, and enhancement of critical digital service infrastructure. The role focuses on web platforms, API frameworks, DevOps practices, automation, monitoring, and cloud-native technologies that enable public digital services.

Job DescriptionOn behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a DevOps Programmer who will support the Web Digital Office and advance the Province’s IMIT Strategic Plan through the maintenance, optimization, and enhancement of critical digital service infrastructure. The role focuses on web platforms, API frameworks, DevOps practices, automation, monitoring, and cloud-native technologies that enable public digital services.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, maintaining, configuring, supporting, and optimizing web-based middleware solutions to ensure the security, stability, and scalability of the Province’s web API framework;
  • Assisting the Province in integrating the API Framework with the MuleSoft Enterprise Integration Platform;
  • Working with other team members to improve the CI Pipeline, including oversight of automated tests, review of Jenkins, etc.;
  • Working with other team members to build software releases from multiple development project streams and manage multiple-tier deployment environments;
  • Setting up and maintaining the Kubernetes cluster;
  • Researching and applying patches and upgrades to software;
  • Implementing and using monitoring software such as SolarWinds, Grafana, and Prometheus.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience of ten (10) years in:
  • Java;
  • Relational databases such as MySQL;
  • Version control using Git;
  • Automation servers such as Jenkins;
  • OS such as Ubuntu;
  • Shell scripts, such as Bash;
  • Development and use of APIs and API Gateways;
  • Web servers such as Apache; o Load Balancers and reverse proxies, such as Nginx;
  • Load testing, load balancing, performance testing, automated testing and
  • Use and support container software.
  • Experience with software installation, configuration, and system administration;
  • Experience with Docker;
  • Experience setting up and maintaining the Kubernetes cluster;Experience investigating and resolving issues affecting web services and applications;
  • Knowledge of software patch management and deployment best practices;
  • Experience participating in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for web application development and support;
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills; and
  • Demonstrated ability as a highly self-motivated and directed individual with experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and working on project teams.
  • Experience working with government organizations;
  • Drupal Content Management System module development;
  • Load testing, load balancing, performance testing, and automated testing;

Development of black boxes; DNS Services; and Transport Layer Security.
