Reporting as a senior member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, planning, and execution of integrated waste management programs, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient management of waste throughout a large-scale restoration project. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, collaborate with engineering and operations groups, and provide oversight for waste characterization, transportation, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is ideal for an experienced leader with a strong background in nuclear operations, waste management, engineering, or complex industrial programs who is passionate about safety, environmental stewardship, and building high-performing teams.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all technical waste services, including waste characterization, waste shipping, waste strategy, and integrated waste planning.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for the planning and execution of waste management activities across a complex restoration program.
  • Develop and implement long‑term waste management strategies that align with project objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate engineering, operations, supply chain, and support functions to ensure projects are properly resourced and executed efficiently.
  • Establish performance metrics and monitor program effectiveness, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide program management oversight for budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and long‑range strategic planning.
  • Lead business improvement and technical excellence initiatives that enhance operational performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Support commercial project delivery by ensuring waste management requirements are incorporated into project planning and execution.
  • Develop and mentor a high‑performing team through coaching, succession planning, recruitment, and performance management.
  • Foster strong relationships with regulators, contractors, stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and external partners.
  • Promote a culture of safety, operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable regulatory, environmental, quality, and safety requirements.

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Nuclear Science, or another related technical discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex technical programs, operations, or engineering teams.
  • Experience developing strategic plans and executing large‑scale operational initiatives.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, resources, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of waste management, environmental compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive organizational change.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple complex priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Interest in making a lasting impact on one of Canada’s most complex decommissioning and environmental remediation projects.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Level II (Secret) Government of Canada Security Clearance, which typically requires a minimum of seven years of verifiable residency within Canada or another approved allied country in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom.
