35 hours per week

Salary :

$ 77,475 - $ 90,638 per year

Position Description The position is responsible for performing a range of human resources and administrative duties for the Human Resources Services (HRS) team. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees. Reporting to the Supervisor of Disability Management, the Human Resource Services Officer will support the administration and coordination of employee health and wellness supports for Bluewater District School Board. The HRS Officer will support the vision, mission, and values of Bluewater District School Board, while contributing to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment of respect, integrity, dedication, and readiness, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.

Duties And Responsibilities

Respond to inquiries and provide guidance to employees, management, and union representatives regarding short- and long-term leaves, including interpretation of statutory eligibility requirements and collective agreement provisions, and support early intervention efforts

Responsible for coordinating and administering the Attendance Support Program (ASP), including case management, monitoring movement of cases into and out of the program, collaborating with managers, and providing guidance throughout, with escalation of complex matters as required

Responsible for coordinating and administering Long-Term Disability (LTD) and disability support processes, including case management, applications, documentation, communication with employees and external providers, and ongoing follow-up, with escalation to senior staff as required

Provide support in the administration of WSIB claims, including documentation, communication, and coordination of information, with escalation of complex matters as required

Assess medical documentation and support the development, implementation, and ongoing review of accommodation, remain-at-work, and return-to-work plans

Collaborate with payroll and internal partners to monitor sick leave and short-term disability benefit plan balances, including identifying projected exhaustion dates and ensuring timely and accurate communication

Support and coordinate absence reporting and tracking processes (SmartFind Express, K212 HRP, EIL), including data processing, auditing, maintenance, and monitoring of absence records and employee absence bank balances

Provide leadership and guidance to HR and payroll staff to support data integrity of absence records within the HRIS and coordinate required adjustments

Assist with identifying , developing, and implementing tier-one employee wellness and support initiatives

Collaborate on onboarding sessions and development of staff resources related to attendance support, employee wellness, and benefits and leave programs

Administer and provide governance oversight for the D2L (My LearnBW ) platform, including access and permissions management, content oversight, and training and support for instructors and departmental administrators

Facilitate the reimbursement of medical expenses (AF 4131)

Ensure accurate , secure, and confidential retention of electronic and physical records in accordance with established practices

Flexibility may be required to work outside of regular hours and/or an altered workday to accommodate position requirements

Use of a personal vehicle to travel to worksites for employee meetings may be required within the school district (mileage reimbursed in accordance with board administrative procedures)

Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications And Experience

Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management , or other related field

Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, including experience in attendance support, disability management

Police Records Check satisfactory to the Board

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from worksites

Assets

Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate complex attendance and disability case management processes, including guiding relevant parties through challenging situations

Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with proven ability to navigate difficult, sensitive, and high-stakes conversations with employees, union representatives, and leadership

High level of initiative, accountability, and sound judgment, with the ability to independently manage competing priorities and support early intervention and wellness strategies

Experience interpreting and applying complex collective agreements, policies, and procedures, preferably in a school board environment

Experience developing stay at work plans while ensuring duty to inquire and duty to accommodate compliance

Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, insurance plans, and other applicable legislation, regulations, and guidelines

Proven ability to handle complex, confidential, and sensitive information with professionalism and tact

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment

Certification/designation and membership in good standing with a professional regulatory body such as CHRP/CHRL (HRPA) or equivalent work experience

Certification or experience working with attendance support or disability management, occupational health, human services, mental health, kinesiology, or a related field

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Office 365) and HRIS/case management systems (e.g., Parklane)

Proven flexibility and ability to adapt to change while working effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment
