POSITION TYPE: Regular Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

POSTING CLOSING DATE: August 11, 2026

HIRING RANGE: $84,429 - $91,000

Lumenus Community Services is looking to hire a Speech & Language pathologist. The Speech & Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for the provision of clinical services to children, youth, and their families in accordance with the practice standards and professional ethics of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. The Speech-Language Pathologist is ethically and legally responsible for the services provided by unregulated supportive personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Screening and Assessment of Clients Participate in community screening activities that promote early identification and understanding of speech and language and communication needs Administer standardized diagnostic tests or informal assessment measures Complete all assessment documentation and help to support “Single Plan of Care”/Service Reviewthrough collaboration with other internal services Prepare written assessment reports for all children/youth that describe current levels of functioning and document clinical decisions following assessment. Review assessment findings with the client’s family and service team, if applicable Provide assessment information to other professionals as directed by the family

Consultation Consult with client’s service team members regarding each child’s speech-language functioning and treatment needs Provide suggestions and materials to support staff and other service providers involved with the child /youth (e.g., daycare staff) to optimize each child’s speech and language functioning Provide modeling of therapeutic strategies to support staff, educators, and others to ensure consistency in all teaching environments Provide consultative services to family members, other caregivers and other community agencies involved with the child/client.

Service Coordination and Referrals When necessary and with parental consent, communicate with other persons working with the child clients /and/or family When necessary and with parental consent, initiate referrals to outside professionals Participate in meetings as necessary for intake, transition to school, etc.

Treatment, Intervention, Parent Training For children on monitor/home program, develop programs with pre-set goals for the parent/caregiver to implement at home for a period of 6 weeks or more Provide individual and/or group intervention sessions which includes modeling and coaching for parents/caregivers Provision of parent /service team education in individual and/or group format Consult to parent/caregiver/service team in person or by phone as necessary to exchange information Maintain organized, succinct progress notes for each child receiving therapy Generate progress summary at the end of each therapy block for children receiving individual /group therapy At discharge, communicate discharge and future speech-language needs of the child with the parents Complete other client reports as required (e.g., school transition report)

Administration Maintain clinical statistics on Client Information System Completion of the Outcome Measures Protocol (FOCUS) Complete other reports and statistics as necessary Comply with the Regulated Health Professions Act and CASLPO regulations Participate in quality improvement programs Promote EA services and programs within the community, where applicable Participate in regular staff meetings, agency meetings, and committees Assist in the maintenance and selection of equipment and supplies Comply with agency policies and procedures

Professional Development Contribute and maintain a climate conducive to personal and professional growth (leadership, motivation, communication, conflict resolution, and staff education) Plan, develop, implement and participate in educational programs for clients, caregivers, service teams, groups and agencies Participate in clinical teaching programs for Speech-Language students and Communication Disorders Assistant students. Read and review materials relevant to the delivery of Speech and Language services Attend outside conferences, lectures, workshops as mandated by CASLPO Participate in professional memberships and groups as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university; Member in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children aged 6 months to 21 years, including children/youth with multiple needs, and their families (parents, caregivers, guardians) Current knowledge of speech, language and communication development in children and youth Knowledge of communication disorders and delays, including receptive and expressive communication disorder Knowledge of mental health, developmental disabilities and Autism, as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good planning, organizing and problem-solving skills; Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams both within the agency and the community; Knowledge of early childhood development and current effective intervention strategies; Working knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Keen observational skills; Flexibility in service delivery to a wide variety of settings and families.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process Ability to commute to various sites and/or across the city as required
